Sell Me On Non-AF's, I Dare Ya!!

Let me start by saying that I love IC-Mag! It is an invaluable source for information, knowledge, and images that motivate me to get better! Many times, I use it as a resource, staying under the radar gaining the insight I'm looking for through other peoples conversation. I've decided, however, that it is time for me to show where this gain in knowledge, insight and motivation has taken me in terms of my ability with my newfound love with AF's! I am a novice, this is only my 5th go at any kind of grow, but I feel extremely satisfied with this past harvest. For those who are interested in knowing, I will outline exactly what I used and did to complete my best grow to date, and would love feedback of any kind offering tips or corrections to my method. I am a hobbyist, not a commercial grower, and my gram-watt ratio wasnt too impressive, but not bad for a beginner with a closet and IC-Mag at his fingertips!

For the first three weeks I used a 4 ft 4 bulb T5 that I purchased from an electrical shop. I used 1 gallon pots filled with Miracle Gro potting soil. I had 4 Barneys Farm Pineapple Express Auto, 1 Samsara Shot Adrenalline Auto, and 1 Flash Cobra Auto. All where female, and all recieved a healthy watering every 3 days with water only. I was sexing them by the end of week three, and at that point I removed the T5, and installed a 220 watt hps conversion bulb in my 250 watt Hydro Farm light fixture, as well as a Boost Buddy CO2 bag. In addtition I hung a 250 watt metal halide bulb next to my HPS and circulated the plants every week so they would take turns directly under different lighting. I took the metal halide down the 2nd week of flowering because the heat was too much and I hadnt established a proper venthilation system. A week into flowering, I began a regiment feeding of two different nutrients. My schedule was, feed tiger bloom, flush in bathtube with several gallons of water 3 days later, feed kool bloom, flush in bathtub 3 days later, all the way up into the last week where they were flushed at the beginning of the week, and then again 3 days before they would spend 24 hours in the dark before cut down. I finished with 143 grams dried, fine smoke, and plenty of props! Keep in mind, this all happened germination to smoke in 13 weeks! I can't see any reason to go off AF's as the smoke smelled and tasted great, hit hard, and was completed quickly in a small closet.

You cant take clones wich means buying beans all the time.
If you find somthing special you cant keep it as a mother
There a limited amount of trustworthy breeders and strains
Some times they dont a/f
13 weeks isnt that great time wise considering alot of strains out there from seed that finish in that timeor less.

Ive expermented with autos once I wouldnt do it again .

Non-AF are amazing to keep clones around of known quality,, and a lot of AFs are still lacking in quality. Thats my goal as an AF breeder to bring AFs in to the realm of known Non-AF quality. It has always been my goal. Ooops got to run will be back with my full reply.

There are some breeders that pride their work and release stuff that is actually stable and reliably consistent. Yes cloning option would be nice but it is not required if you have a stable population of consistent AF genetics.

Giving up on them due to 1 experience is bias. Do the research and see who is releasing strains that live up to their descriptions.

Hope you give them a try. They are worth it.

Thats why I said a limited amount of Breeders, For instance Mdanzig is first to come to mind The sour 60 always cathes my eye for some reason as well as he's been around a bit .
The problem with having a constant and stable genetics means you have to buy or make seeds.for me its easier to keep moms
I'M just personally not set up for autos
I'm not knocking A/f's in any way and I respect the peeps working and improving them.
I'm definately not going start a debate due to my one time experiance But basically no moms or clones Is why I avoid the A/f "s Nothing more to than that in my case .I would pop a couple sour 60 for shits and giggles though.

Like I said at the moment A/F/s are not somthing i want to play with rite now .I read the post and threads and if i want to be sold on A/F's I beleive I'll go to REZ'S thread, and once again I repect all the peeps and breeders of A/f'S and the peeps that grow them. The op's ? was Turn me off from a/f's, and keeping moms and taking clones is MY biggest turnoff.
But not to be a dick or anything ,Iwill say i havnt read tommys posts buT where do i save money having to run another setup to make seeds or buy more and worse case have a bunch of bud with seeds I didnt want.

I dont by the yeild increase either, 30 rooted female clones from a proven mom going rite to 12/12 will produce way more than 30 A/f unsexed and probably quicker.
I just tried to give an anwer to the ? from my point of veiw .I guess I'll go read the REZ's thread from page 1 and see it convinces me to go A/F?
Peace JM
