I think its possibly genetic. Slightly thinner calyx on the variety, or possibly could be a result of the plant flowering too long, Im not certian.. I seen it on the Lemon Larry OGK x Indiana Bubblegum. I attributed it to too much moisture, and didnt really start noticing it until they were in storage. Im finding the seeds will usually still germ but some of the energy is possibly spent and they dont get a long tap root before rolling out of the shell. Great question and great thread. Would be nice to hear chimeras, or others take on it.
