I don't know about peat.
But as far as coco goes, you want first to water very little. Let them generate roots that shoot to all ends of pot. I water freshly rooted cuts in 2dl cups with coco like every 3rd day. They will drown if you water too much. Less is more. And you don't need to water till runoff. Just give the pots that much water that coco gets nice and moist. Doesn't have to be soggy.
