Seedling HELP!!

G

Guest

hey there guys, I am currently growing out 8 bagseeds that I had left over from last time that produced super buds, so I want another go round with them, Well, I have them in little cups that I got from a store, a little smaller than a beer cup, and they are all about 1-2" tall, working on their second set of "real" MJ leafs...My problem is that they are all drooping down, all the leaves are cupping DOWN? on every single seedling...I thought it was overwatering at first, so I didn't water for a day or 2 longer but that didn't help, I just gave them a weak dose of nutes 2 days ago, and that didn't help either...Please gimme some feedback guys!!!!

p.s.- they were being grown with CFL's 200 watts... Do you guys think this is tooooo much for these seedlings? Becaus that was my 3rd guess, and I went ahead and took out 3 26W bulbs to make it less...just 3 45W's in there now

i posted in the wrong forum at first so i posted here again...sorry

IMO, they drain good, just as good as my past grows... they are grown in a mixture of about 1:1 soil to perlite, then just a handful of vermiculite thrown in each pot...they have holes in bottom of cups, they don't stay wet very long, maybe 2-3 days...I can't get a pic until later, as the plants are at my homeboys house...but as soon as I can, I will post pics..

I wouldn't feed the seedlings at all. What did you feed it? Do you have good air movement (small or oscillating fan)? The cups you're using...are they clear?
Hope they pull through

the only reason I fed them, was because they were alerady headed down hill...I was trying to figure out what was wrong with them... The air movement is controlled by 2 computer fans at the top for exhaust, and a bigger computer fan that basically circulates the air inside the box, with a passive intake...the cups are not clear, and have good drainage... I got some pics attatched here...take a look tell me what you think...they actually look a SMALL bit better than they did yesterday...but they still lood bad

you might have overwaterd them or the PH is high...

you should check the water that you are using to water them...

Looks like overwatering to me.

The cups are large and have alot of soil in them, which means more water available to the seedlings, which means frequency of waterings will be less. The light source isn't going to evaporate the water very fast either.

Just my :2cents:

well, you all seem to have the same ideas i had...I guess I can just hope for the best, I am gonna let them get EXTRA dry next time...

Listen to the plants, feel the soil, poke your finger below soil line if dry add a little water, seedlings dont need much. I usually water them every 3 to 4 days. Sometimes longer, dependant on temps. Make sure they have very good drainage. Do not feed them anything till they are at least 2 weeks old. And PH needs to be in range, I recommend 5.8 to 6.0. After 2 weeks, go with a very lite dose of nutes. Like 1/8th and see how they respond. If they do good, go with 1/4 nutes.

that soil doesnt look too great either looks like some wood pieces in it, and atleast use flourescent lights for first week or so then maybe throw under a 400 watt. Dont feed seedling any ferts for atleast 2-3 leaf sets are in and only fertilize when soil is dry dont fertilize while soil is still cold damp or wet using only a 15-25 percent suggested fertilization dosage until you are comfortable with what your plants want.

iiight guys, thanks, guess imma just let them be, I want to get some better soil for the next transplant, but idk what to get... I was thinking about actually splurging this time, and going with the fox farm...because I HATE those wood chips man...trust me...Fox Farm doesn't have them...right? I've never used it..

k1llakr0n this is just my thoughts on this as i have been in this situation myself.Remove alot of that perlite, your seedling can,t get any goodness from the soil i had this problem with one grow in particular could,nt understand why all the seedlings with the less perlite was doing great and the cups that had the extra perlite where the stunted and looked just like yours drooping leaves and getting nowhere.
I repotted them in fresh sivved soil with no perlite or any of the large bits of bark and they took off and never had any more problems.
i have stopped using perlite for seedling altogether now and it definitley eradicated the problem completly and all the seedlings are now full grown plants all in flowering stage hope this gets you back on your feet and hope it helps.hashish

how can I remove the perlite now? I am definetly going to spend whatever money it costs me on some better soil, this shit I use now costs $1.97 a bag which is why I use it, but I just might have to shell out $15 on fox farm for transplant...I should still use perlite the next time i transplant your saying...right?!?! I am thinking you mean for seedlings do not put much perlite, if any at all...and remove all bark...correct? Won't if I take out all the perlite, my soil not drain well anymore? like clumped up?

If you have any type of fresh soil k1llakr0n just repot them i have used soil for my seedlings that cost me (£2.00 in a supermarket) and it was ok just to repot in an emergency.
To remove the seedlings i just broke the soil up gentley and removed the seeding and put it straight into the fresh soil, some of the roots had attatched themselves to some of the perlite so i just left them there and put them into the new soil and my problem was solved.
yeah you can still use perlite but not too much i have been down that road and it has give me so many problems as i mentioned above k1llakr0n i stopped using perlite for the seedlings then add some more at transplant time again not too much.Even after sivving out the bark the drainage was still good i have nine sedling at the moment with no perlite at all and they are 100% healthy.
I would definitley get them into some new soil, your soil at $1.97 will do until you get your fox farm soil. But i am still sure this is whats causing your problems.hashish

Dont remove perlite if anything add something like potting soil, if you are gonna use fox farm dont use the soil full strength on the seedling more than likely will burn them at first, mix the fox farm with something like black gold and some regular potting soil 40 percent black gold 40 percent topsoil then 20 percent fox farm. You will probably want to add more perlite to the above mentioned mix. I would definately not put seedling directly into fox farm soil, fox farm soil is more like a soil form of fertilizer. For small plants use clean less harsh soil. Regular Kellogs soil with the least amount of ferts works good, definately not the best but for a beginner easier to manage. Fox farm directly can burn the crap out of seedling and to be honest I dont like fox farm. Id rather make my own mix out of Sunshine's Soiless peatmoss mix looks like soil but doesnt have anything that can harm plants and keeps a balanced ph which is hard to do with moth soils.

honestly...I don't really know about the fox farm soil, I am just looking for a soil that has little or NO bark at all...I just hate that stuff...I have looked at alot of soil around here, and all I have seen is loaded with bark...I am still unsure as to what I am going to do...If i do change the soil...should i re-pot them in the same small cup?

it doesnt matter, I would. Just make sure there is proper drainage
