Seed found in clone only ogkush bud

I was picking out a bud for todays wake in bake out of the last buds from my first grow and as i cracked it open to put in my bubbler there it was. Right in the middle of this little nug sat this pale small seed. Im surprised because this is from 4 ogkush clones that i got from a dispensary. Its the only seed ive found in all the erb i yielded and im down to my last few nugs.

Heres the seed. Think i can get this to germ? That ogkush is fuckin potent.

is the bottom of the seed fully formed? it looks like it might not be, unless thats a bit of stalk that hasnt been removed. as for germinating it... give it a try and see what happens :)

Try the pinch-test. Squeeze it fairly tightly between your thumb and index finger. If it crushes, you have the answer right there. A seed that is capable of germinating will be able to be squeezed without being popped or crushed. From the pics, it looks like it might be a little too immature, but if if will stand up to a squeeze, it has a good shot of germinating.

Any ideas on how the seed was able to form with no males around? And only 1 seed?

There's only two ways, the clones were in the vicinity of some male plants or one of the clones made a nanner and self pollenated, thats the only two options.Of course one clone could make a nanner and pollenate another clone in the vicinity also. There was pollen present it cant happen any other way

Mother Nature is a smart lady. I have read a couple articles where it is claimed a female plant, non pollenated, will actually produce a seed or two to make sure its life continues. The seed should also be feminized.

why damaged the seed, float in water if it sinks in a day or two let it germ if not throw it in your garden.

idd, dont want to risk crushing a seed. just germ it as normal, if it works it works and if it dont it dont...

This is very interesting and would explain how one plant out of 4 was able to produce a seed without the presence of pollen and trust me there was no pollen. If one of the clones made a nanner wouldnt there be more than one seed? In any case i will germ this seed using the cup of water method for my next grow along with any other seeds i procure by then. If this seed has the least bit of chance of germing then i want to preserve that chance. Pinching it tightly seems too rough for me to try especially since i was blessed with just one seed. Gotta treat it with care u know.

If there were more than one drop of pollen, there would be more than one seed. I have seen what even a speck of pollen can do, lol. Over the years, I have seen one or two seed in a lot of different plants. Mostly one though. As I said earlier, marijuana has its own built in mechanism for survival. Take the time and do some research and you will understand. A plant does not have to turn hermaphrodite to produce a single seed. The plant does this itself to carry on its life.......And if theory is correct, that seed will be female.....

I have to agree with JJ on this one. There was no pollen PERIOD. I watch my plants very closely and there were no male flowers present at all throughout the entire 3 month grow period. Had one hermed then i would see many more seeds. The fact that i only found one single seed out of my whole harvest leads me to believe JJ's theory of self preservation. Funny how some people can believe the rediculous big bang theory but cannot seem to fathom a plant that could create a single seed without the need of pollen to ensure the plants continued survival. Just because u dont understand how something works doesnt mean it cant happen. :dueling:

Just google can plants reproduce without pollen if you want to know the science behind it,I dont buy it from experience. If there were a chance of that being true after growing the same pheno for 3 years straight 40-50 plants each harvest I'd have seed a seed, never did.Introduced a couple feminized strains and although visably female, bammo I have a seed or two all of a sudden.I would know if there were a seed in this pheno too, thats the thing I'd know for sure.Lots of things to read on the internet, this subject was beat up pretty good on OG too lolEDIT Sorry check out the pennstate study the first thread I think

I find that odd because I find a random seed quite often. If you are turning over 50 plants then you arent able to smoke them all so there could be a random seed somewhere.

Very good point. I was told this could happen by someone I fully trust. Not to say hes right or wrong, just not gonna be full of shit! But it makes sense. He said in his sealed room, with the same strains, same mother, all that. He found one single seed! Is there any research anywhere saying that indeed it CAN happen?
