Searching For A "SouthAfrican Durban Poison X SKUNK#1" Phenom! (Freebie)

So gypsy gave me some free seeds (SouthAfrican Durban Poison X SKUNK#1 by Sam the Skunkman)...and I decided to pop all ten and see if I could find a Phenom in the bunch...Everyone seems to be so negative about this freebie I wanted to find out the truth...The beans looked healthy and are now sitting in a dark closet wraped in a papertowel... to be continued...

I germed 8 of em, and no dice. I'm thinking about trying to germ the remaining 2 this evening also. I know his instructions are to give them to someone to help them out, but if they don't germinate... Anyways they were free so nothing lost, nothing gained! It does sound like a interesting cross and hopefully 1/2 remaining seeds will show some signs of life.

JGG: Im glad you brought that up....im going to give clones of the phenom to some close friends....because I could give people some seeds or I could find the best seeds and get a couple clones for myself....and your right there free so nothing lost...but I hate to keep them if when I do need them they dont germ!!!

Hey Bandan, it will be like incubating Emu eggs almost. Man, everyone has had a hard time with these critters. I'm almost done transplanting 9 females, 4 weeks, I'm late as always, and they all have the 'fruity pebble' smell, some are more pronounced. I'm toking on the mother plant right now. It is a worthy strain if you can get it up and running.

I got mine passed down from a couple of original ICMAG members that jumped ship during hurricane OG. Mine started out as a runt, had the trunk eaten through during 'mite eradication week' and grew up into a winner by my book.

I wish someone else would have better luck with this strain, like you bro. I smoke it for the taste and uniform high that always keeps building in intensity. Good Luck!

Hi Desiderata...I saw that your other posts on the subject....hmmmm... I just hate to sit on beans that wont germ!! Im kinda lucky when it comes to germing seeds so we will see... 1: Germ... 2: Sex... 3: Pick Best Female... :4 Clone...

well i got the African Swazi X Skunk #1 seeds as a freebie... not the same strain but im assuming its close

similar germing problems... tried 8 out of the 16 seeds i had... 3 or 4 showed tap root... only one made it to seedling.. seedling was a mutant but she pulled through and straightened out over time... im determined to get at least one female out of the 16 seeds... hoping this one is a girl



she (hopefully) has been vegging for about 6-7 weeks now (no preflowers yet)... i just took a cutting a couple of days ago to determine sex... so hopefully she is a she

here are a couple of pics... kept her short and bushy with alot of LST... and she is now under a scrog screen with my other plants

try letting them sit overnight in a glass of water then take a fingernail file and score the pionted side of the seed. if that doesn't work try squeazing the seed inbetween your thumb and finger (please do this gently), barely crack the seed

I read somewhere that those seeds germ better if you put a little heat on them. If you have a heating pad or something similar that should help. Good luck.

i kept 5 of mine, 2 germinated but never came up once planted. i feel kind of bad for giving potential grower friends seeds that dont germinate. good luck with finding the phenom, i was interested to see how they compared to my nirvana durban poison x skunk #1,

I had all 10 germ. The only thing was that all of them turned out to be males.....I heard somewhere Sam was giving them away as a freebie because they wernt selling as good. So he was just clearing old stock out for new ones..
