Sealed growroom thread

Guest

I've seen a lot of sealed grows showing up. There are lots of ways to build a sealed room and tons of ways to run a sealed grow. I thought a thread on the topic would be a good place to share some ideas and discuss related issues.

I run 3k of hps, Kenmoore 10k btu a/c, 65 pint Dayton dehumidifier (at lights out only) Cap co2 ppm controller with bottled gas, 6" fantech on a Phat filter for scrubbin..

I also have an exhaust set up on the room that I can run if I need to. The exhaust also serves as a hight temp safety, set on a thermostate to run if temps reach 95F.. a crop saver if the a/c takes a dump :joint:

Day temps run 83-88f, night around 70f
co2 at 1500
day humidity 60% for the first half of flower then down to 50% for the 2nd half. Night humidity runs the same.

The flower room side is 12' across 4' deep and 7' high. The veg side is 7' across 4' deep and 6.5 high. The veg side is vented, non sealed.
Gettin it built

What do y'all run?
Questions, comments, ideas?

Gronut very awsome this will be the route I will be taking in the near future. I hope others will contribute to this thread also. And you definitely look like you are doing very well with your setup killer looking plants. Thanks for posting your specs and pictures........

How many plants per light, strain, veg days, flower days, yield per light do you get?
Is the AC a window or portable?

Your setup looks very nice.

Mine isn't sealed yet so sorry for posting it but I want to seal it.
400w veg approx. 20 days

5 tables 5 plants per table
4 600w lumatek
1 400w lumatek
Chronic
55 - 59 days flower
Average yield per table 500 - 620 g.

Portable AC attached to an inline scrubber. 50 pint dehumid for lights off.
If I can substitute the portable for a window unit it will be sealed.

I have to figure out how to add co2.

Sappenin GN.......I remember back when you built all those grow areas with all those doors for easy access..........I see they`re workin out for yas...... :joint: .......Dewd .....I`ve always run a sealed room with heat exhaust thru a scrubber without co2 with excellent results......As you know I was doin the krusty bucket thing with 4 trees in 10x10 with 3400 watts of bare bulbs hung down amongst em..........The a/c ran constantly and dehumidifier as well lights off,the scrubber/heat exhaust was hooked up to speed control and thermostat(but set at 80 degrees) kinda like your hi-temp failsafe exhaust.......My temps were a lil lower than yours lights on with above 60% constant rh in veg, but I never ran above the low-mid 40`s in flower and as low as I could possibly keep it in late flower for obvious reasons with 4 huge plants transpiring from hell while suckin up mega gallons of juice in the latter days............Anyways....great thread and I like your reflectix on the walls.......It`s on my to do list..........Keep up the killer work my buddy...........PEACE...............DHF............ :sasmokin:

damn gronut, my room is so sloppy compared to your excellent work! im gonna fix it tho, before i start next crop. i have a room using co2 and ac, and theres also probably about 5-7" square of leaks to the outdoors, lol! mostly on the ceiling though, since the ceiling is made of reflectix. pretty damn janky huh?! i run through a 5 gal propane in just over 2 weeks, but have a splitter so 2 tanks share the load. great work youve done gronut, keep it up :)

Budweiser13- Thanks a lot man.. once you get yours sealed up I think you'll like the results. took a lil while to get it all dialed but it's been great. peace

icdog- I run purple urkle, 9 plants per light, veg em for 55-60 days cause the're so slow and got 1.8 lb per light last run in soil. I've a coco top feed set up now and hoping to do bit better.. The a/c is a window shaker.

Your set up sounds like it's workin tits. nice yeild and c02 can make it better :joint: I never used c02 in a vented room.. sounds like it would take some time to get it right. It'll be much easier once you get it sealed. the window shakers are usually more efficient to run also.

Core- hey bro.. your new room looks like it's coming along great. always lots of fun having a new grow space. come by anytime :joint:

SKELETOR- I like your style :D How do you like the vertizontals? do you use any type of climate controller or just the settings on the a/c and dehum? I run a cap air-1 for the a/c which kicks it on if either the hum or temp gets to the set point. works well. for the night dehum I just set the machine.

the stuff on the walls is reflectix.. avail at hemp depot or lowes, works great. take it easy bro

DEDHEDFRED- what's up DHF.. yeah i;m on my 5th run in the room, gettin a bit better each time. easy access is always a plus..lol.

That's sweet how you keep your room happy with the heat scrubber.. i bet you can keep things perfect. you ever try c02 or just don't care for it? I would guess than it'd speed up your veg time  I love the tree grows.. toyed with the idea some but never have done it, mainly because I can grow 30 legally here in cali so I've stayed with the 9 per light. 30 trees would be somthin to see :yoinks:

whats up with krusty and the hight humidity he liked to run? I see an advantage in veg but not so much in flower. Didn't he like to run 65% or so pretty late? Thanks for comin by bro

sbaegis- get that baby sealed up. I always do lil upgraded between crops as well. too much trouble to do anything with the room stuffed with plants. thanks for postin and for the compliments dude :joint:

cabanetforester- thanks a lot! I bought un-hung doors so I could make my own door stops. I made it so that it seals the door on all 4 sides, no threshold on the bottom. the foam is closed cell so no air can pass through. I made sure everything was tight by gettin inside the room havin the lights on outside and that made any leaks easy to spot. take it easy

I found ya!!!! Dude what can i say, just a fuckin kickass setup, unreal bro, excellent work! I have questions but gotta get em in order and not waste time and space, what every grower never has enough of.

How many Coronas did it take to get that done though?

beautifull G!

GroDawg...........The 70% RH was Krusty`s pet peeve and folks called him on it daily and he swore up and down it never bothered his room in flower.......I listened in one ear and let it go out the other cuz as we ALL know to argue with him was futile......My shit`s been torn down and given away over couple yrs. ago when I won custody of my heathen ass teenage son..lol......BUT.....I`ve all but got every last bit of brand new equipment save a few items to go back into production by the time he goes to college in the fall......I can`t say about the CO2 cuz I never used it but over 2 1/4 and almost 2 1/2 lbs. per plant every run for goin on 6 yrs. never pissed me off and don`t really see how it could`ve gotten a WHOLE lot better but who knows.... .....I`ll try anything once and twice if I like it.......I`ve been lookin at Skeletors threads about a burner bein more efficient from a small LP tank, than a tank with controller and solenoid valve that would`nt last 10 days in my rooms.. Also wonderin if my scrubber on exhaust thingy would be beneficial or suck all the gas out if I run higher temps for the CO2 while bein on a thermostat......Anyways dewd........I`m glad to see all`s well with you and yours and try to keep Bonz inline......He`s a nut...teehee..............PEACE.......DHF........ :sasmokin:

Killer setup you got there. I'll be hanging around for sure. I'll, be doing something kind of the same. Along the lines of breeding rooms and sealing off so pollen doesn't bother other projects. Same idea, rooms with doors and air tight. Thanks, for sharing your grow and setup with us. Sure is a very nice setup.
Take care,
BG

Thanks a lot Bonz.. :joint: ask away when you got your q's ready. I'd guess a 12er per day... maybe 10 days workin on it.. bout 120 suddies give er take 20-30 :friends: I only fell off the ladder once and mashed 2 fingers on this project so it was all good

mrparanoid- Thanks man. the stuff is called reflectix. It's like chrome covered bubble wrap. Its sold as an insulation product so it does help a lil..not sure how much. better than mylar would do for insulation for sure. take it easy.

DEDHEDFRED- hope you get to usin that new equip soon bro.. I know I'd go crazy having to wait like that- props to ya for havin the patients and keepin things cool. I'd love to see you do your thing if the opportunity comes. Your yeilds sound like they don't need tinkerin with so if it aint broken.... :joint: I'll do my best with the Bonzulator but we're all nuts in our own way aren't we? :sasmokin: Peace bro.

Hey BG  - thanks for comin by. I was hoping other sealed grow fellas would come by and share their stuff but haven't seen many yet. When you build the different air tight rooms I'd reccomend using a polyurethane seam sealer as opposed to a painter's caulk for sealing the seams n joints. the caulk will shrink some when it dries and can crack- potentially exposing air leaks where the polyurethane won't. Good luck on the project...

Thanks again

hi gronut - i was/am doing a sealed room with emergency heat exhaust, 9 LTK 750 digis, 2 x 12K BTU A/C's, etc but what do you do about giving the girls O2 at night? Is it necessary? I was going to put in a couple of vertex powerfans to bring in fresh air then.

Hey coolx If you don't have a heat or humidity issue you don't have to vent at night at all...o2 is not required. If you run a dehumidifier at night you can vent the room for cooling if it's an advantage. Some people with cheap electricity run a dehum and a/c at the same time but that's not a good idea where I live... we pay .35 .40 cents per kwh :yoinks: peace

Morning GroNut, thanks for the advice on the sealant. I work in construction and agree about the caulk shrinking. There has been times. I've had to run another bead of caulk or touch up some caulk already ran. Very good advice for sure. I'm thinking about running some sheets of plastic inside the wall also. Will see what happens once i get going. I know one thing that alot of grower's don't do. Fliter the air going into the grow room. I'll be running a good 3M pollen filter on the intake vent. Making sure pollen from another project. Doesn't make it's way into the room and making sure there isn't anything else in the air. Very good thread
take care,
BG

irie-i

i was pretty sealed for a few cycles, and was totally sealed the last cycle (see links in my sig) unfortunatly i still havent seen the results that i was promised if i seal.(could be that i am using a double hose portable a/c ) i got close to a 6 lbs with 5400w before sealing, i got 6 only after sealing. the buds are hard and potent though!
i am controlling with the matador co2 controller. and i have a cd-6, but i want a bigger CO2 generator.

nice to see another sealed room thread. i tried to start one last feb/march, and there was one called "be all end all of sealed rooms" a while ago too.

The word from skeletor is a dual hose will still suck out your co2. Do you have a co2 monitor you can read?
