A 2MP camera will take a shot about 1.5 feet x 2 feet. Does your software have a "Save For Web" feature?

Personally, I edit with Photoshop, reduce to 800x600 pixels @72 dpi and then save in Image Ready (packaged with photoshop inside of Adobe CS) Saved in PS, they'd be around 400K, saved in IR they're under the 100 K limit.

Nice thread scrogger, I checked it out. I looked about as good as 70w is going to get, but according to his comments about it, not good enough.

He said the buds were fluffy, and didn't think a 70w could produce dense nuggs. His last post was about how he was going to build a cab with twice as much canopy space as the computer case and use a 150w or 250w bulb.

I'd also like to note that everybody automatically assumes that an hps is the best choice over mh because of the higher lumens. Although the mh has more usable light than an hps and it also emits less heat.

It's not the lumens, it's the spectrum. All the light in the world won't help if the colors wrong. MH has more blue which is what vegging plants use most. HPS is more red which is what flowering plants want most.

Some mix and match depending on the stage of growth. Some use singles throughout using MH to keep plants short or HPS for best flowering results. Some use CMH. CMH has more blue than MH and more red than HPS all in the same lamp.

I prefer to veg with mh and flower with hps most of the way (first 6-8wks) through and then switch back to mh for the last 3-4 weeks of flower for improved density and tric production. You CAN veg with hps but more lumens doesn't always mean better internode length...I get better node spacing vegging with mh. It's all about spectrum and photoactive radiation " PAR ".


Perhaps you could get away with a 150w hps in a pc if you had a homemade cooltube and a 4'' vortex for cooling... anything is possible with the right gear. Sam the caveman is right about hid's putting out more intense light.

cmh would be awsome, it would run cooler than the 150 hps for sure and provide better spectrum to use all the way through. I didn't even know they made 150w cmh bulbs until today. I read somewhere that 150's are the most efficient out of the cmh bulbs for lumen output too.

from what I read on cmh, you CANNOT use a digital ballast with these lamps. There is one brand (digital)that is said to work with them though, and I think it is those lumatek ballasts you mentioned.

The frequency rate on digis is much higher than a magnetic core, and the cmh will not maintain an arc at 200hz (from what I read)

I'd go with the cmh, they definitely put out less heat then hps...my friend switched from a 400 hps to a cmh and his temps dropped like 3 or 4 degrees.

The 250 and 400 watt cmh run off of magnetic hps ballasts, the lower wattage cmh run off of pulse start mh ballasts or ignitors or whatever..there's alot of info in that huge cmh thread...but if you're set on getting one just go to advanced tech lighting and ask them exactly what you need to run it if you're not sure on the ballast or something.

just make sure to get the phillips brand bulbs and not a knock off brand..and get the 4000k bulbs...those are the open fixture rated bulbs... the 3000k bulbs are closed fixture rated and burned down a phillips factory or something...so yeh, 4000k is what you want.

so that is still undecided, i contacted philips were i leave and im waitting for info in the following days
