i actually was in Ghana about 30 years ago. (1976 to be exact). to say the weed there was incredible would be an understatement. I obviously don't know if it was sativa or indica, but I can safely say it was the most incredible reefer I ever smoked. I was there from about septemeber until about november or december, and it was just incredible.

many is the time i would awaken, as if in slumber, to find 2/3 or 3/4 of a joint still between my fingers. The taste was good too, although what I remember most was the potency.

Lonesomedave, sounds really awesome that you travelled there and experineced it first hand, makes me just wanna hop on a plane and head there and find the green. Jingles: came across this article that might give you more insight, great read and love ganja in ghana strap line: http://cannabisculture.com/articles/4537.html

All the best, one love.

yeh I just have to visit Ghana one of these days - the music there is just incredible - so funky it is plain ridiculous, and everyone I know who has been there has great things to say about the place and the people - and the sensi

for people who like their West African tunes, esp. people who collect vinyl, you should check out Soundway Records from Brighton, UK

they have plenty of compilations and great re-releases of vintage afrobeat on vinyl from 70s Ghana, as well as some other great 60s/70s West African sounds from Benin and Lagos inc. some rare George Pino afrobeat

hey LD - my pleasure :)

I don't suppose you have any pics from that visit do you? I would love to see them if you do

I can also recommend The Rough Guide to the Music of Nigeria and Ghana - there are some inspired tracks on there too (a couple of dodgy ones, but on the whole the RG music series is quality)

Ghana is a classic case of a country which has so much to gain from legalising ganja -

I wonder if a realistic attempt at genuine legalisation (regulation and taxation) could best be begun in a small country like this?

One issue is that the real benefits would come from a genuine global (or at least EU) legalisation, where clearly Ghana could become a significant exporter of quality product

still, contrary to what many people will tell you, the UN treaties are not binding - any country can opt out if they so wish

I have heard that some of the modern strains in Ghana can do very well under lights - I expect that indicates at least hybridity with something Dutch or NA, but the results were meant to have been spectacular all the same

no, unfortunatley my visit was cut short (i was actually a student at the university of ghana at that time).

me and a friend got caught with the very substance that is the topic of conversation here, and i took a powder pronto

I have smoked a fair bit of West African Sensi when I used to go to a West African social club with some African friends back in the 90s, incredibly funky is the right word for both the herb and the music. Ghana is nearthe top of my list of countries to visit. I just received some seeds of a Ghanaian strain called Jahwis Joy from a friend, looking forward to trying it out. I would love to try the Accra Skunk, heard good things about that one.

3 Jahwis Joy babies are growing in my outdoor northern garden (between 50°and 45°). Seeds are coming form Esben bros.

They are still little but have a haze look (very thin blades), almost the same than pure sativa Thai I grow this season for comparison :pimp3:

I hope to cross it with Purpurea Ticinencis if possible (the only strain without mold in my rainy mountains).

More news and pics later.

Peace, Phil :bandit:
