i will say this... sour dubb is the shit and i have never said different... but if i cant get her to grow again due to duds i will say this... gorilla glue is the shit. it will be here for a long time to come.

damn is the whole dud thing really that intense? that you may not be able to grow her again?

it's broad mites right? are all the adub sisters just super sensitive to them?

ya got me scared Phillthy.

I have yet to have a good run of her and am done trying. Some friends got cuts off another bro when he was not being a lazy ass. There sour dub turned out retarded fire.

Once year later I get a few cuts from same dude. Blam some mosiac BS in veg and end result sucked.

Some of those people who had runs that turned out fire got lazy did not keep mom super healthy and blam same shit happened.

i don't doubt that there may be another phenomenon at play here, but a lot of what's been described as "dudding"—especially with locally sourced cuts of adub and dubtech—was very definitely broad or maybe cyclamen mites.

The dub is just finicky like most elites I have a big mom of her and she throws nothing but healthy cuts.

I got some Dubb cuts rooting now. Really hope they dont have the BM problem. Friend I got em from has had no issues what so ever so I got my fingers crossed. Need to find some ADubb again soon for sure.

Would love to see some pics of those ChemD x Sour Dubb SmokeTrees!! That Ruby Red pheno sounds very interesting. Hope that S1 of the Sour Dubb turns out well, might be a way to restart the Sour Dubb cut maybe with some possible improvements?

Keep up the great work over here guys!!!

no doubt your right.

If by finicky you mean stressed while cloning then subjected to pests, mold, mildew and negatively influenced by every other environmental factor you can think of, then yes, finicky.

Broad / Cyclamen mites (same pest, different names like Pincher Bug and Earwig) perfectly explains why some people don't have dud issues and others do, the plant is being infected by the saliva of the mites and can't produce.

This is why I think SmokeTrees has it right. Smack a viable clone with pollen. Seeds don't get bugs, pm, mold, etc.

Speaking of beans, KRD - whats the story on those Harlequin crosses you were working on?

wow i had no idea that their saliva was a toxin they inject into host plants...

"They (BM) also tend to hide in dark, moist areas within tender buds or deep within the flower further hindering detection. "

"Broad mites inject a toxin from their saliva as they feed. Leaves become twisted, hardened and distorted with bronzed lower surfaces. Young terminal buds can be killed. Leaves frequently turn downward."

Source - UConn

"Injuries, presumably due to toxins, occur even after the broad mite is killed by pesticides."

Source - abstract from Experimental & Applied Acarology 13-3, 1992

unfortunately i can't get to the full article.. looking for more info on lasting toxin affects...

"Damage is caused by secretion of a plant growth regulator or toxin as the mite feeds, and significant damage can occur at very low pest density."

Source - UGA

so UGA refers to their saliva as a plant growth regulator... not just a toxin.

so getting rid of the mites ain't enough, the toxin needs to be cleared out. lets say you treat some cuts you plan on mothering out and eradicate the mites... the toxin is still there and presumably would be passed on with any clones. since we don't know exactly how long the toxin remains effective, those clones might not be 100% clean of toxins.

so my plan is to clone clones and then clone those clones and so on, for at least a couple generations... all the while treating them with various pesticides and continually sterilizing the mother/clone area especially between generations. throwing out mothers as soon as new cuts are taken...

I had the dud issue w a number of strainat once..but not sour dub..ironically...thats how i knew i had broadmites...
Humbleguy brought up a point(i think it was him) that he had experienced partial dudding..just a branch or two with the rest of the s dub perfectly healthy...i finally experienced that..i was growing big plants..twenty thirty tops per...and noticed two branches on one not all the way dudded like w broadmites..but just no resin at hat stage..lil slower to swell...those branches came off w clippers..along w a few leaves and presto..she finished dank and badass.....maybe she didnt like having so many branches..maybe its a reaction to root stress..dont know...but ive still never seen a full plant dud...it just doesnt seem possible for it to be'genetic' and just pop up once in awhile...doesnt make sense to me...but im no scientist...

The copy of Louis I have was "dudded" for 2 generations after being Broad Mite free. It's a completely different plant now

That's the thing, even when broad mites have eradicated, the systemic damage can last generations
this is the thing that flustrates me ST, GS had the original mom, no broad mites, he spread it to several of you guys and zoolander and myself, again no broad mites, we all started getting duds around the same time give or take a couple months, this after several runs with no dudes, now how does one grow healthy good plants for say a year and all of a sudden 3 gardens miles apart all start getting duds ? belive me i actually wanted it to be broad mites, i scoped them till my eyes hurt and never found anything.

You are not alone Joesy. I suspect dudding to be a mutation caused by a auxin/hormone imbalance. The tissue affected, which may only be on part of a plant, can be spread from mother to mother by while taking clones. It is a cancer of sorts. A cancer that kills quality and leaves you with a mutated worthless reck of a plant. One solution may be to simultaneously increase lumens and adjust photoperiod to 18hrs vs. 24hrs while spraying with kelp/humics.

I hadn't seen it until I brought Sour Dub into my equation and soon found similar qualities on other pheno's.

we interrupt the war on duds to bring you a shitty picture from my stereo microscope. it looks a lot cooler in through both eyepieces in 3D. this is the dubtech 7 @ 40x. i took this one down at 60 days. still mostly clear trichs though.

sure, the resolution on the little eyepiece cam ain't the greatest, but playing with lab equipment is a lot more fun than setting up a a dSLR, IMHO. WTFOMGBBQ?!

I think you are on to something there. It turns out that living, breathing things just gotta sleep. If they try to stay up, they will all eventually go bonkers. I had some issues a couple years ago that I suspect was caused by constant light for months on end. I remember I used to have awesome results with SSSDH, Apothecary Chem and Albert Walker, then they went to shit. No vigor, no quality, and as ST pointed out to me - the moms had that small-leaf thing going on. I thought I was being clever by using the heat from my lights to heat my house. Instead, maybe I unknowingly disfigured a couple of beauty queens.

I think Humble is right, you gotta fix their hormones - could be as simple as give em a boost and let em nap.
