Actually not so far fetched I have a half bath in the master bedroom that I was thinking of gutting and setting it up as a grow room and then get a hideadoor to have a completely concealed room behind a book shelf. Water, power, vent and drainage already there. Very close to the breaker box if a new circuit needs to be run. Oh so tempting.

You can handle this two ways.

1. Move and enact proper security at the new place or....

2. As you said, create a stealth room in your current place. Secondary to that, you need to fortify your dwelling. How did the people get in last time? Do you have first floor windows? If so, you need metal grates over them. Your first floor doors need to be steel, and you need to have some type of lock that goes from frame to frame, so that the door cannot be blown in. If you do those two things, no one, unless they are using a multi person battering ram, will be able to get into your home. If you are in an area that is rural, you need bars on your second story window too.....multiple thousands of dollars for that type of work. How bad do you want to grow?
