the idea about doing it in a bucket thats sitting in a bath of the really cold water doesn't sound bad...i'm sure the 9-11 degree temp dif would be felt through, but still leaving your other water "sweet" as it was put. I would also never add salt to the water...it would be so gross, the smoke would be absolutely disgusting...

The Salt in the Hash would make it go bad faster. Salt is not good for ANYTHING but melting ice on the sidewalk. StonedtoDeath has the right idea. Icecream Hash lol.

the use of an outer bucket filed with salty ice would work without contaminating the goodies.... In fact i reckon even a small trough that only goes 1/4 of the way up the bucket filled with salty ice would work.....

get a metal bucket for the bags and set in a larger bucket with the ice salt water. The metal bucket would transfer the cold alot better.

Maybe the next hottest thing will be too mix up the bud and water in a an ice cream maker, then send it through the bags ;)

Now that I think about it, that's a really good frickin' idea, especially for the small time grower. The ice cream maker has a paddle inside and turns at what? Maybe 30 - 40 times a minute? :chin: Just use water and pot inside, leave the ice and salt on the outside. I wonder if the water would freeze with the pot...

Synapses firing. Thoughts forming! Dammit! I don't have any pot to test this.

:badday:

I like that idea... just me?

umm if you did it why not just do a rinse of the bubble has under cool water for a few minutes the hash will not disolve out but the salt would.

additionally why not just put salt water and ice into a couple small zips and put that in there if you want to drop the temps...

Salt is hygroscopic and would probably prevent the trichomes from drying out properly. You could do what stealthballer says and flush the salt out.
Personally, I would just stick to what we all know works well.

Peace..

I agree with that ^^^^ because making a batch of bubble is plenty of work as it is and my whole method of from sprouting to smoking is about simplicity.

The best way Ive found to preserve ice during the process is put the water I use in a cold fridge for about 24hrs before running the batch. Then use a 5gal inside another so the outside one acts as an insulator to the inside bucket. Doesnt sweat on the outside as much that way too.

Has anyone considered using dry ice? That might be the ultimate way to achieve those REALLY cold temps.
