I want to clarify a very common misconception about prop 215. There is absolutely NOTHING in Prop.215 that states an officer has to sit and verify your recommendation or card. NOTHING. Their procedure down here in SO cal (as corrupt as it sounds) is to ignore your medical recommendation, ticket you or take you straight to jail (if >1oz or cultivating) and then it is up to YOU - the defendant to prove your medical necessity to the judge. There are absolutely NO provisions of Section 11362.5 that state an officer is required to check your medical status then release you from custody - in So Cal they force you to see a judge and wait it all out. GOTTA LOVE DEMOCRACY and Conservatives!!! This is where the law is flawed
And yes the card is totally optional and I value my anonymity and privacy so I dont want big brother having my personal information. If you want a nice ID card that works and isnt the same government database, go with MediCann for your recommendations, they give you both an original paper rec and a fancy ID card with 24/7 verification

The patient ID center in Norcal and Socal issues ID cards for 35. The info is stored on a remote secure harddrive and the center is paperless. They are really nice people and I dont trust the state so I got my card there.

Hey stealth farmer if you didnt already get your rec you may want to consider a doctor who verifies 7 days a week. Usuallly the first visit to a club requires the club to call your doctor's office and verify the letter of rec. If your doctors office does not pick up then you will not be allowed to enter.
I work M-Friday 9-5 so Im lucky that my doctors office verifies 24/7. Never had a problem entereing a club but I've seen a lot turned down because their doctors dont pick up the phone.
And in my opinion the card with rwbc is completely worth it. It just makes you look more legit and 35 is cheap insurance. But yeah the government cards scare me. Dan Lungren, canidate for gov few years ago was threatening to criminally charge everone with cards. Not very reassuring.

First off, you don't need a card at all-- Verbal Recommendations from a Dr are perfectly legal-- But very difficult to verify--
Your Recommendation allows for easier verification...but if they can't reach the Dr's Office...they will treat it as a fake--
The State Card is the best-- It provides for instant verification....and, in case you didn't know...it has your picture, but not your name-- It is simply a registration number they can punch in--
Your info is encrypted into a database...and is not available to any agency-- (It falls under "Doctor/Patient Confidentiality"
The Government isn't going to go round up all the pot-smokers...they don't have room--
Unless you are the type that shakes in their boots at every conspiracy theory...you should be ok--

now granted, it will save you headaches, i.e. if you get pulled over and have the doctors note, but not a pretty little card.
and if you DID get one, and were under the limits and were not violating any FEDERAL laws nor EXCHANGING CASH for any product (unless your running a caregiver thing and they are merely covering your expenses) then you are protected under 215 and 420. No CHP can confiscate or destroy your bud (it doesnt say the same for pieces though, I'd hate to have my sack of weed, but watch my triple perc bong get smashed) and Im looking for feedback as well regarding just local county LEO. The jist that I've gotten from reading the points in 215 is that they (leo) can't detain you longer then necessary to validate your medical claims, can't confiscate your herb, and can't arrest you. UNLESS of course you were violating other laws, such as having gram bags weighed out, having a scale along with all of it, and carrying a gun.
Just having ANY (even .001 G) og MJ is illigal in the fedes eyes.

to LAGITIMATELY qualify under state code u should have some prior (read: documented) illness, disease, problem. dosent mean some doc wont give u a recomendation anyway. REALGOOD doctors (read: that will go to court for you) will also give a marinol scrip.

Hey I have a relative that has a card thats under 18.They live in California also.They suffer from RLS and Crohns so I think you or your buddy should be able to get one.Ofcourse you will have to have a Parent/Gardiaun with you though.I hope you or your friend find help from this wonderful medicine.cannofbis said:

Hasn't anyone figured out how to make one of these things? I haven't seen one up close, so don't call me out on the carpet if they have crazy ass holograms and other security measures in effect that make it difficult to reproduce. All I can say is that we were making fake Driver's licenses and printing money like 15-20 years ago. If we could do that...I'm sure someone out there has figured out how to make a card that you present to places where people are stoned.
It won't fool the police, so I'd avoid them. But if it's just a matter of getting into one of the dispensaries and fooling those people....I'd imagine it couldn't be too difficult for someone who's motivated.
It's better to do that, then give the goverment all your personal information and ask for a card.
Most of the people in the spotlight pushing for medical marijuana aren't people fully afflicted with all kinds of horrifying diseases....it's never the guy in a wheelchair with the stephen hawkings voicebox pulling for legalization. It's some person that purportedly has "chronic pain", and that's the rationale.
Additionally, we all know that the medical marijuana leaks right out of the medical community and makes its way everywhere. There's no possibility that law enforcement hasn't figured that one out. Therefore, smart cops and smart law enforcement people must use these cards as "leads" to profile certain communities where trafficing may be an issue.
I'm all down for smoking weed. I don't need to be in pain for it. Just roll it, and any old reason will do.
I don't trust the govt. at friggin all. Signing up seems sketchy. Best keep it to myself until the day that it becomes decriminalized or legal.

It only costs $125...and if you are a minor, you can still get it legit...but it better be just that...because EVERYONE is going to want to check on a minor--
All legit cards have a phone # to verify authenticity--

you could fool the pigs way quicker than the disp ive seen them send people away because docs not answering phone right away. they check because of all undercover pigs trying to fuck them over.
