Safe To Buy Online ?

Im looking to buy a hydro setup which consists of a 55 gallon. res. and 12 , 3 and 5 g buckets and all the tubing...

A) Is this safe as far as paper trail, from the store/website through to shipping to your front door step...

I will be growing at this location...

Its only for a couple months... Im just renting the place with a friend..

B) How does this stuff get shipped its huge!

any experiences on this.. I have ordered a vaportek , and an air pump... but an actual hydroponic setup from a hydro website makes me wonder....

Virtually all places ship in discreet packaging. There's something called 'probable cause' and ordering equipment from a so called hydro shop is not probable cause. Have it shipped to a different location. The whole paper trail thing is overblown in my opinion.

I have everything shipped to a seperate address. So far no cop has showed up. Everything from seeds to nutes, buckets to lights, so far so good. Usual UPS guy each time. I too think the paper trail is overated. I think it depends on if they are squeezing a particular company you could end up in the mess by no fault of your own. I have 2 companies I deal with, both ship in plain boxes with abbreviated names on the labels. I call and speak with them when ordering, makes me feel better to talk with the guys packing my orders. Just me though.
Final opinion-ship somewhere else, safe than sorry!

The only way I would be concerned about getting hydro stuff on-line would be if I lived in a 1 horse town where the UPS guy knew the sheriff etc etc,the bigger the area the better for everything that has to do with growing

ive ordered seeds, fans, lights etc over the net sent internationally. usual mail guys deliver it here, plain brown boxes nothing on the outside...could be anything for all he knows. i dont think the net companies or shops would be making any money if it were causing peoples downfall. good luck

So safe that I have seen one of my good buddies get taken down and who is now in jail. I don't even mess with stuff I have to order online. Find it locally! seriousally! Don't play with fire. Who know's if it's safe or not but i have herd enough storys to keep me for ordering online. But I'm the type of guy who bairley post's on websites or anything. I even use an anomious browser program. It's just not woth the risk of going to Jail. It is harder to fab/make stuff out of local parts but in the long run it will pay off. Just some blather from me but thats how I feel. How do you think all of those people felt when emery seeds went down!? wouldn't want to be a customer of theirs. I'll get my seed locally from other growers or just some good bud.

If you are seriously concerned, the best thing you could do is order everything with a money order and not have it sent to your grow spot. Thats about it.

I don't even mess with stuff I have to order online. Find it locally! seriousally! Don't play with fire.

DEA/Sheriffs monitor the grow shops in my area. How do you know they are not doing the same in his neck of the woods?

The DEA/ Po Po monitors the hydro shops in my area as well. But I don't go to those shops. After alittle more thought I agree.

-Pick a safe company
-Sent to non grow spot.
-money order

I suppose that would be safer then going to the local hydro shop.

my understanding of things is this....

its ilegal for (well cant be used in a court of law) to seize a companys records (hydroshop or otherwise) to indite its customers...the sale of hydroponic goods is not soley for growing illegal substances... now im no lawer and i cannot 100% confirm whether its totatly safe,like your elec bill,and wheter or not it gets "red flagged" for excess usage?

i personally would never use a credit card. i find ordering goods over the phone (public of course,not your mobile) and direct depositing the cash a sure fire sleep well method... hydro shops (well mine doesnt) do not record what goes to who...only the payment would be kept on file, your address or another. just use someone elses name for delivery...just state on delivery to stash it somewhere if no ones home...otherwise you wont be able to claim it at the post office..

i think the person that said there mate got busted by buying goods online etc. im sure if the matter was investigated and ya had a chat to the cops they were alerted to his activitys by some other means...that was just the tip of the iceberg so to speak...

I've ordered everything from seeds(many times), and all kinds of grow shit.

I'm really not that worried about it anymore.

If you can find a Hydro store within 100miles of your house, I'd say that would be, in your case, much more worth it.

Heck, I go to crazy lengths. I borrow someone elses car to drive to the hydro shop. Figured unless I am followed. They would have someone elses info.

I am also under the impression it is better to grow larger plant & have fewer numbers.

I would just drive to a hydro shop and pick it up and pay with cash

Also if you look here at ICMag you can find a DYI post describing how to build the type of hydro set up your looking at from the onlne hydro shop and you will save 100s to 1000s depending on what your getting

One thing I do is buy most of my stuff from online aquarium shops and online light /bulb resources everything else but Nutes can be bought from Lowes/Homedepot
