430watt bulbs have more blue in them than 400 so its a more full spectrum bulb

I've seen people do commercial grows successfully then stand their scratching their heads because there was no preplanning.Before I even started I made sure there was a single person one county over that would buy all I grew.This is a friend of my brother,I havent met him in 5 years and dont want to lol.Just remember to plan for whatever it is you're trying to accomplish before becoming involved,plan plan plan.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I actually do not look at ALL like a hippie or a punk or anything, not to mention I'm white so the cops have less "reason" to bother me. Cynical as it is, it's absolutely true here. Darth, thanks for the info on the light. That's exactly what I wanted to know. Soilman, sage advice that, something everyone should heed. Thats what I've been up to for the last year and a half and I'm working something similar.
My neighbors are not nosy, in fact I probably won't even know them. Not to mention it's the quietest complex around, there aren't really any parties or loud people. Basically why I chose the place, as well having nicer units and gas stoves

I appreciate your advice everyone and it has definitely helped. Anyone have a good way of muffling the ballast? You're right, the insidesun ballasts do make a lot of f*ucking noise.

Hey Skylined and everybody

All the comments about getting notice for power usage
are definitely true.

One thing I haven't heard anyone mention is electrical
safety. Couldn't tell if you are growing in an apt or
house, but I am just starting a grow in an apt (had a
house and a grow before--now i have a divorce) and
even though i'm just doing a converted closet with a
400w, I'm having another 20-amp circuit installed
with a dedicated line to the grow.

A lot of times you'll see all the lights and outlets for
two rooms on a single 15-amp circuit, and if that is all
you have going to the room in question, you might
want to beef it up. Even a single 600w system with
electronics, fans etc. can push you to safetly limits if
the circuit is shared with other lighting, TVs or
whatever.

You should be able to run six 1000's at 12/12 or equivalant....

I wouldn't dream of running that sort of wattage in any one room of my apartment. If I read you right that is 3 Kilowatts. That will never work the way the average apartment is wired, or it won't work in my apartment. I have what I think is a typical 2 bedroom , all electric apt. The breaker panel is in my grow room.

1 30A/220 breaker for the hot water heater
2 20A/220 breakers for strip heat
1 40A/220 breaker for stove
3 20A/110 breakers for lights, outlets, and everything else

All the outlets/lights in my grow room(BR#2) are on one 20A breaker

Now if the poster has a typical apt. you telling me he can run 3KW in one bedroom...nevermind all the other stuff that he will also have going in there?

I should get a clamp on ampmeter and see what the draw on my CB is with just my ONE 400watt light, blowers, fans, my computer, overhead and reading light, and whatever else is on that breaker.

The original poster better wait on a qualified electrician's opininion before doing any large scale growing in an apartment.

Looks great Obli,it wont be long now.Dont flush the soil flushing's for hydro,instead stop feeding 7-14 days before harvest letting the plants draw nutes from the soil.I like to hydrate my plants the day before or several hours before cutting them down,it makes for a longer slower drying period when you hang them.

OK on flushing. They showing some signs of burn after this last feeding. And that Ice is getting a bit stinky now. Just reaching in to look at buds etc. is enough to get resin all over my arm and face. That sticky shit is hard to get off too. but i love it.


To the original poster:

If you own that place, you have options to rewire that bedroom to handle 3KW plus all the other stuff that goes with lights. And you will have to rewire that BR if you want to use that amount of power. I do know that much for certain. Get a qualified electrician to advise you. There are some on these forums.

There are people on these forums giving out advice about electricity usage, wiring, etc. who have no fucking clue what they are talking about....it is obvious from their posts. They are among those I refer to in this quote on my signature

If you listen to clueless fools for your electrical advice, you deserve whatever fate becomes you IMO Get a qualified electrician to advise you.

hey all......heres my theory .... if you can smoke pot in your house or apt.......and the police dont show up.....then you can pull off a grow.....
Saftey,Security,Lifestyle,and "greed" not withstanding.....
Big grows are not easy....and someone who is a novice should probably be a little more conservative at first...
The more light = more heat = that thick pungent smell of fresh growing pot blowing around your "complex"......OMG....which is not the smell of smoking pot...

By the way...I had a 1000watt and a 400watt and a 1000 watt pond pump (jacuzzi) and some fans and crap..on a standard home circuit...it pushed the juice......BUT my wall and outlet were warm to the touch........so i dont do that anymore......

I'd like to comment on the neighbor issue,I'm surrounded on both sides and across the street.I'd say conservatively 75% of your success will depend on your relationships with your neighbors,this should be part of the preplanning process before you ever even set up,its that important.Some people just shouldn't grow period end of sentence because of the neighbor situation,I'm very fortunate.Long before I grew I was neighborly lol.Having an electrical issue?I'll be right over...The only people physically closer to your grow than you are your neighbors,they play an indirect part in your grow!Take the issue pretty seriously if you are serious about this,extravagent motorcycles boats and vehichles suddenly appearing in your driveway is a big no no.Besides making the neighbors jealous and suspicious,remember the spoils of this "war" is asset forfeiture.At this very moment many of us may be on their states law enforcement division's radar,but it's not worth their while to apprehend you at this time.Ravings of a paranoid lunatic?Think again...
