my x-gf who is still my best friend...just emailed me about sierra (our border collie we got the same time as yukon)

sierra rides in the car really good, but she decided to jump out of the window going about 30 mph.

she did not break any bones or hit her head (thank god) ... but has alot of road rash and now has a bunch of stiches and staples...shes a tuff dog.

just glad she is gonna be OK

Sorry to hear about that, dogs do the strangest things. Must of seen a rabbit and decided 30MPH was perfect for getting the jump on the furry bandit.

Dogs are tough like that... my old roommate's Shar-pei fell out the back of his truck on a gravel road at about 40. Didn't even bleed. Scared us completely shitless, though.

Glad your story had a similar ending.

perhaps the window should not be rolled down enough for a dog to slip out of? This is how you can prevent such events..

anyway,... Hope ur friend gets well soon

Sending healing vibes! Got a kitty with a cavity I can tell but she is trying to hide the fact from me. I know because as soon as the acid from eating hits she moves off from her food.. But let me near the problem? No way!

When I was 12 we had a German Sheppard and she went everywhere with us boys. We lived in central Florida in the "out back" so to speak..

One day we are walking along the dirt road near a canal and suddenly our dog leaps as high as my little brother and pounced in the tall grass.
I mean we were all so calm and just walking in the hot Florida sun,,

She thrashed around jumping up and back in the tall grass then pouncing again and again. She made a wincing sound a couple of times.

Then she lurched up shaking a huge cotton mouth..

The swelling took 5 hours to get to the point we had to take her in but we kept her for as long as we could that day.

Gotta love your pets..

Don't you love them...

my mom's ex bf had a male napoleon mastiff. a huge ol'blue. well he was a highly bread dog. it cost him a few G's. Well he sent it to Arizona because he knew some dude that had a female and they were gonna get some puppys and split them. well a week and a half into the trip, my moms ex bf dog got bit by a rattle snake and died. it sucked. it's weired with out your pets around.....glad all yours got was a few scrapes. it really could of been worst. all the best bro for you and your dog!

years ago i was at a stop light sitting in my car with my dog in the back seat. I looked to tmy left and across the street pissing on the mail box was a dog that looked just like mine. i mean he was identical. Then i looked in back and found my 120 pound dog has mannaged to get out of the opening in the window.

Sorry to hear about your puppy. I have 4 dogs now and i hate when any of them get sick.

My first dog ever was a border collie - Blackie.

Smart dogs - S*M*A*R*T dogs.

Glad to hear all will be OK, that musta been one scary moment.

I was on highway when german shepherd jumped outta moving truck bed at 60 mph. Not my dog, but I felt bad for the owner - everyone stopped to help, but no could do.

Sendin' some positive thoughts...

im sorry to hear... sounds like she will be fine though, thank goodness.

actually i have almost the opposite story, my 60 pound fatass english bulldog with short, stubby legs once jumped into the window of an accord (it was parked, she isnt THAT supercanine). i was quite astounded. the feat was never repeated.

We had to be careful traveling with our Border Collies. Anytime they saw a group of anything, they'd try to jump out, round them up and bring them home. They didn't like rats. Rats they'd kill. Anything else, they'd try to keep as pets. Well, not skunks. They learned about Skunks the hard way and remembered the lesson.
