um 1.2/1.3 EC is around 900-1000 ppms if im not mistaken. don't have a chart handy.

I use that mix for veg and bloom. Yup.

I don't really calculate whats in what fishwipe. I just make that mix lol.

For flushing I use florakleen @ 5ml per gallon and sm90 at the minimum of 1ml per gallon. for the 1st week of flushing I keep using Floranectar for hte micros plus a lil extra mag in late bloom is just like adding molasses.

could be many things. just check your ph and ec everytime. I go by EC as its more horticulture specific were as ppms are scientific.

Also don't forget ur environment is critical so if its not in check or up to par, you could be over feeding because the plants aren't going your pace.

let us know how it turns out man.

got you out hte wood work! lol

Should I keep this plant in the flower room or immediate disposal?

1000 ppm is right @ 2.0 ec on a 500 scale so do not follow those ppms here is a scale to show u ppm for each scale to ec
2.4EC x 500 = 1200ppm (500 scale) or 1200ppm / 500 = 2.4EC

2.4EC x 700 = 1680ppm (700 scale) or 1680ppm / 700 = 2.4EC

also unclecrash lets put the childish insults away or in a pm away from the public, were not in high school and no one wants to read useless banter. lets try to keep threads useful to people willing to learn by contributing knowledge.

LyrIC,

Thanks for the response…

Got me out the woodwork, indeed!

I don't get many problems, but this "rust" one has plagued me for over a year now.

Thanks for the info, although I don't see the difference between EC and PPM.

As far as I can tell, they are directly related. The confusion arises when you convert - either by 500 or 700. I use a Bluelab truncheon, and I go by the 500 - always - so I have a stable reference point.
(the above was drafted a few days back - before the reply in the post from Zero..)

I up the tap water 200ppm, add (too little, it seems ) cal, and then balance the feed till it's around 750-850 ppm.

I'm pretty sure I can fix the situation this time around by :
1. adding more calcium. My tap water ec reading is zero, and I've only been adding 6mls of Canna Cal per 70 litres.
2. Cutting back on the feed strength.
3. Flushing with clean water every third feed
4. Stop feeding Superthrive.. which I did on occasion, in bloom.

I'm using hempy buckets with perlite/vermiculite (3/1).. but I had the same problem when I was growing in coco - which is why I changed the growing medium and tried the hempy buckets. So I know it's not the coco causing the imbalance. I've grown coco and hempy side by side, feeding the same, and the rust hits the both of them. I'm also doing a side by side with a dec setup- problems so far, apart from that one leaf - (below) on one of the hempies.

I've just noticed a brown staining on one of the leaves on one plant, just 10 days into 12/12… a larger leaf, which would not have had the benefit of the new increased calcium feed, just instigated today. It looks like a different shade of brown… from previous casualties. The rust problem usually has appeared around 3 to 4 weeks from the flip.

Can anyone recommend a realistic amount of calcium per litre, or point me in the direction ,… ?

Let's see how it goes - II'll keep you updated.

What does you bottle say?

That new brown color you talk about sounds like what I would trip out about all the time, aka leaf damage.

The situation corrected itself and heres what did it.

Reusing coco is a no no. Unless you properly flush, clean, and recharge your coco, I wouldn't reuse it.

2nd was Advanced Nutrients, More like overpriced advanced bullshit, i used before my switch to 6/9 and thats were the problem started, lack of a balanced nutrient regime when that plant started its life

I was using R/O water and not adding any Cal/Mag. The plant had an severe nutrient lock out.

I cloned her a few times and the problem went away after the first cloning.

Stable nutrients sir, and quality medium.

No root Aphids like some one said... lol only A SEVERE CALCIUM lockout.

I kept growing this plant and it grew out of hte problem into normal growth, but flowering was upset and the bud developments late start made her yield very miserable.

Was never rust.

This is my evolved feed.

5 gallons R/O ph usually around 8.2 - 0.0 EC
I only use 3 gallons worth of 6/9. so 18ml Micro and 27ml Bloom per 5 gallons.
I first add Silica - 5ml
Then Calimagic(cal/mag) at manufacturers rate 4ml per gallon, so 20ml.
Then I add Micro and then stir the mix, add bloom, stir.
Hygrozyme is next at 10ml but you can use more.
Then I add 10ml Diamond Nectar.
Followed by FloraNectar 10ml
5ml FloraciousPlus
1/2 teaspoon KoolBloom
You can add Root Excellerator if you use it at this stage, I don't use it past week 5 in bloom and some times I don't mix it in because Its great stuff but everyday isn't neccessary and Its a PITA to open and keep the bottle clean, same goes for Floracious Plus.
Last but not Least I add the SM90, 15ml - full dose, but you can use less and still received the desired pH.

Ending PH is 5.8 and EC 1.3. For 1.2 EC using 1/4 Teaspoon KoolBloom.

Hope any of this helps.

So can this be summed up as "Didn't add Cal/Mag to RO water"? Seems much more simple.

Bottle states 1 to 2 mL per litre. I'm using a 60 litre res, so, 60 - 120 mls. Quite a lot, when you consider I wasn't using ANY up until this last grow..
So I went for 20 ml.
The new brown colour has appeared on some of the other plants.... fingers crossed it's a cal def..

Thanks for the response!
