Russian Rocket Fuel : Male or hermie?

As of right now I have an off brand vape from eBay, but this xmas I might be getting myself Da Buddha :)

As for pollen, I waited for some of the pollen sacks to open, making note of when they are ripe, and then I plucked them off, as well as the ones that are just about to burst. Put them all in a small glass vial, allow it to dry a little. Crush/Shake em up, then use a q-tip to knock up my females.

I have the pollen ready, and Wednesday I will be spreading the pollen.

Nice! I've been using the Silver Surfer and Da Buddha for a year now. They work great but I'll warn you to be careful with ground glass in the Da Buddha...They're more prone to breaking.

Thanks! I'll be collecting some auto WR pollen soon, and PPP pollen too hopefully. I'm going to store the pollen to splatter and dab a bit here and there... and on the hoped for bush-pheno from my pack of RRF. :biglaugh: A little dab-ah-roo-dah:biglaugh: White Russian Rocket Fuel here we come!:biglaugh:

Wednesday evening I will post some pictures. Just one female.
This thing really amazed me! For the first 4 weeks or so it was relatively small/slow growth. Then BOOM, both the male and female hit growth spurts.

Just a quick question for everyone. I have not used any nutes at all, and do not plan to. Do you think they will suffer because of this? I am a firm believer in soil and water.

What are you using for soil? If it contains beneficial microbes I would at least try to feed them so your plants can breakdown and absorb what is available in the soil that much better. I've tried only water and feeding the soil for normals but not autos... They're pretty light feeders so I don't know how exactly it would go. If your environmental conditions are ideal and the soil has plenty of nutrition you may do well. :2cents:

So far they are doing great with no feeding. Might try and get one feeding in, but I have never used nutes before, so I am afraid I will ruin things. Maybe I will wait to play with feeding with the seeds I get from this baby.

As for the vape, thanks for the tip. Im a real lightweight, so I was thinking about ordering a PD, although it is nice to be able to share a whip with a few friends. Not sure yet.

Once she gets into full flower she will want to eat. I would feed her a bit of bloom nutes at that point. Keep it at about half the recommended amount and PH it after mixing and you will be fine. That bush is going to amaze you.

Thanks, I haven't seen her in over a week! Can't wait.

Unfortunately, I kind of lost track of time. Not exactly sure when I started!

Judging by the pics I posted on 11/28, I would guess they were atleast 3 weeks in, maybe even 4. That would leave me either five and a half weeks in, or 6 and a half weeks in.

Is it too late to pollinate?
Tomorrow I will be taking pictures and doing the work with the pollen.

I will also do a light feeding. Thanks for the tips!

EDIT:

Here are some more pictures from 11/28/09. Any guess to the age?

Here is the male.

Here is a female. It got a little dry at one point. Too hot in the cabinet. That caused the dried up leaf on the right

Here is one side by side. Female on the right, male on the left. These were from around Thanksgiving.

Well, here are the updated pictures as promised.

I am not sure if I have the bushy pheno or not, but it doesn't look like it unfortunately.

This plant is taller than expected, at almost 22", with a lot of branching and bud sites.
The base of it is about the size of a dime.

Here is a picture for size comparison next to a one gallon jug.

Looks like there was some pollen lingering around!

I plan on knocking her up tonight. I was going to use a q-tip and just touch all the pistils with a touch of pollen. Will this work? Or should I rub up the entire bud?

Well I just finished my first attempt at pollinating a plant. Used a q-tip.
I didnt have as much pollen as I had hoped for, when I picked the sac's they were too premature I believe.

I hit up all the lower branches/buds. Hope it worked. I know a little bit of pollen goes a long way, so I am optimistic.

How long until the pistils start to orange/wilt?

24-96 hours. Good luck!

Well its been 60-70 hrs since knocking her up, and many of the pistils coming form the calyx's are turning brown/orange and starting to wilt! I hope I get a lot of seeds!

UPDATE: We will have seeds! Here are some pics!

Here is the plant. It hasn't grown any in height, which is a good thing, still 22".

Now, some of the first, bigger fan leaves are starting to yellow up and die. Is this normal? Anything to worry about? The rest of the plant seems to be thriving! Still, no food has been given, other than what is in the Miracle Gro Moisture Control soil I used.

Well, just wanted to follow up on some people watching the RRF.

The girl looks pretty good. I am going to RadioShack tonight to pick up a pocket microscope to check the trichs. I bet she is almost ready! I am getting very eager!

Mind you, I have not given her any nutes at all. Just water. Her leaves are yellowing up and dying off quickly.

Hope I get some seeds out of it. How can I tell if I will?
