I don't think 4800 wats is unreal?
no esp if you've been lurking around 3k grows for a spell now but 10k wow Big Balls hope youve considered a huge carbon scrubber for the exhausting air

I'm going to sign on a place this week I think, and going to go w/ 4800watts to start. We're going to be doing Bio Buckets as well. I'll have an electrician rewire a bunch of shit for starters I want one bedroom wired for 240v and 40 amps and the basement I want to be wired for the same. My goals to use the basement for run #1 on 4800 and up it on the next one.

Also the dimensions of the basement are about 28x12 .... thats just the rec room of the basement theres also a shop on the other side, so will that be plenty of room to run 4800watts? I'd assume so.

Also where can I get that insulation so heat won't show on IR as much?

I have what I consider to be a big home grow 3K in flower and 1800K in veg,I definately think 10K would be too much for me thats for sure.Have you grown hydro before? If you havent you may bwanna try dirt at first, you'll have a lot better chance of success. You know of course you'll need 2 different areas, one for flowering and one for vegg/clones.Instead of keeping mother plants I simply take cuttings from a polant right before I go 12/12 with it,I've had blockhead going for 2 years now doing it this way,no need to buy seeds unlessd you want a different strain.I'd definately get 1000W fixtutres also.

If you got that kind of money to throw around, I'd HIGHLY consider getting a Growtronix computer system. It can help with many things including ph and nutrient dosings, light cycles, CO2, and even save electricity by turning off fans and AC when temps are down and those aren't needed. You can have the computer take readings on temps, humidity, reservior temp/tds/ph, CO2 reading, door sensor, motion sensor and others.

I have bought one myself and I cannot explain how wonderful I think this system is. You could go and by those enviornmental controller for close to $1,000 and still not have ther versitility that you can have with this system.

You can have the system send you texts messages to your cell phone and emails to alert you of whatever you program it to do. Totally handy if you gotta leave and all of a sudden you have a flood or temps get REALLY high. You can hook up smoke alarms to it also and program it so if the alarm goes off or you temps get too high it will automatically shut things down or whatever you want to make happen. Truely amazing.

You can go even as far as to use solinoid valves to automate water changes. You can really expand this system to almost anything you can think of...except a dancing monkey...but maybe soon ;)

Check it out, it'll be ur best investment yet. Catch the sale while it's up. http://www.growtronix.com/store/

Check out my current setup which I soon plan to expand to a greenhouse.

First pic is the upstairs room, second pic is the basement, 28x12 .... + the work bench area that isn't counted into those dimensinons which I could clean up to....

What do you think of that area, could I run 5k in that size basement fine?

You should run 18 1K fixtures to achieve 50 watts a sq. ft. unless my math is all screwed up lol so yea 10 fixtures would be a little weak if you used the whole room but other than that it would be fineEDIT To give you an idea I burn 3 1K vertizontals in an 8 by 8 room (64 sq ft)
