Rooting fanleaves for extra root growth?

ACTUALLY.........Ive listened to a guy up in Canada that does root branches on his plants. He's a swamp grower and he makes these big "beds" out in swamps. One thing he mentions is pushing the branches into the mud to get them to root. Apparently if you want 3-5 lb monsters, then push those damn branches under the dirt! lol Ill look for the audio. I dont know how beneficial this will be for an indoor plant. I suppose it might help a little bit, but that limited root growth is a factor to consider when using pots.

branch and leaf stem are two different things obviously we can root branches

silly...the plant needs optimal conditions for optimal root growth...cannabis is very root efficient unlike grapes

Alright, the drawing #19 does not collaberate with "cutting the tips off of leaves like in cloning" Last time i checked roots didnt grow through leaf tips that are so thin its rediculous. I say bury the leaf completely so the plant has somehting to send roots through and thisll work, good luck man

u can root a branch while its attached to the plant and remove it when it has roots.. called air layering i believe a bonsai growing technique, the branch is cut treated and covered with peat moss or other media and the girdled section is allowed to root. After rooting the branch is removed from the tree. This is a very common practice in bonsai to obtain another tree from an unwanted branch or to save a thick trunk section that was going to be removed anyway , tho why u would want to do it that way when u can cut n root is beyond me.. but bonsai tree's are diff to our ganja plants.. as for rooting a branch into the soil.. same thing, as long as its a branch it will root in the soil.. also the main stem i would think the same, as bonsai tree growers will lay a tree flat . cut away sections of the trunk treat them and put them under soil usually cutting away the opposite side to a branch.. and create an effect of several trees in one pot, but its just one tree.....again why u would want to with a ganja plant i dont know.. i believe air layering is used on bonsai and other trees for that matter cos of the nature of their thick branches...

The technique is called layering (air layering, mound layering, serpentine layering etc.) ther are few techniques based on the theory of creating advanteous rooting, called etolation. If you are going to do it, use a lower branch that you would must likely cut off anyways, cut it off somewhere that works for your application, add some rooting hormone and stake it into the ground. You can leave as many secondary branches off that branch or just cut all the branches of the one that gets layered if it doesnt get enough sun. This style of layering is called Mound layering.

There are a couple other threads on this.Search Key words: Layering, Air layering, etc.

read Marijuana Botany by Robert Clarke, its esy to find. It covers this topic great. Peace_highst

one practical application i can think of would be:

if it does or dosnt help the mother plant, if it roots it's probobly gonna help it. Maybe it'll keep attached and sortof create another plant on its own too...

but, since its all one plant, this could help in security issues...since it could all be 1 plant.....you would get less charges..........and for those with plant limitations for theire MEDICAL card......they can get bigger..more spread out plants that are still...1....

thing is.. u have a pot size.. the roots will fit that pot anyhow , wether u go rooting other branches or not.... given time. :D

hell.if i can grow so many plants legally with a medi card.....i'd give it a fucking 55 gallon bucket as far as i care as long as i can still call it 1 plant

yes but thing is.. if u have a plant and can veg to fill that pot size.. u wouldnt need to root other parts of that plant to achieve that.. it wouldnt make the veg quicker or fill the pot quicker.. just fill it with the same amount of roots as thats all the space u have..
the reason to air layer would be to have a cuttin made on plant in growth, that u can take off.. used on many plants that are hard to root because of their thick branches or hard to root plant branches.

broseph,,,you flower in a computer case,,,,,do you really need more root mass than the rest of us? are you running 50 computer cases and need excessive amounts of clones........a cfl did this in a month from clone and she already coughed up 20+ clones......just grow properly and no need to get your trunk to be a passenger door.

If you had the skills you could have a mother plant (one plant) with 3-4-5 different strains. Grafting...
I don't think just a leaf stem would root but I know a smaller branch will root if tucked into soil.

so stick the branch in the soil....

but, anyhow...i'm arguing for something i'm not doing yet. Right now, its not practical..but i'm always tring to think of ways to help improve MJ production.

different types of ferts, (molasses, piss, manure). With my pc case i took a shoebox and a plastic(walmart) bag and put that in the shoebox. That way i had a pot that had all that extra room for roots, cuz it wasnt round like most. It worked well too. Try it
