They still get some dusty crud on them that comes off when the pellets rub together, and older roots in the system may stain over time, but the new root growth should always appear white. My concern with the OPs plants is that I'm not seeing any real healthy white showing there.
Also I just remembered what fertilizer stains the most- it's Liquid KArma. Gives a mahogany colored cast to the roots, even new growth.
There are as many rinses as there are growers, but I soak mine in cannazyme between uses, adjusting the pH to 6, and adding an aerator if they seem extra grubby. Then just before use they go into a colander and are rinsed with a stream of tap water. That gets the dust back off before returning to the system. Staining of even the older root material is minimal this way. I've been running HT off and on for 4 years or so, in various locations, and it seems that soaking between uses in a slightly acidic solution seems to really deal with that red thing.
