rip ronnie. for a small guy he had the strongest voice damn he was so awesome! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy6URlmeUpk he did everything for the fans
I saw Metallica at this same bar when they were doing Ride the Lightning. Kirk was still alive then. Man I'm getting old.
I completely disagree. Light years better than Ozzy.was never quite as good as ozzy was in his hay day
This was the time I first started listening to him. To be fair the band was the brainchild of Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple guitarist). Dio might have done the vocals but this was very much Ritchies band and had other vocalists after Dio left. There's a double live album which is very good too.Food for thought......
This is what this man was doing 34 years ago....
34 years ago.....(And, to anyone who is a fan but not familiar, vocally, one of the greatest works of his career.....almost the entire 8 minutes are his.........would have put a live version, but, none do it true justice.......)
Ozzy comparison interesting.....but I think equally as interesting how he himself (RJD) changed the entire band/sound/music (Sabbath)....(They became a totally different band/style...)

"Im coming home"
MY eyes are bleeding
Black Sabbath was not Rainbow.
Ronnie was in Rainbow. Ozzy was in black sabbath.
Then Ozzy left black sabbath... enter Ronnie.
RIP Ronnie.
Some people can cram a lot more into life than most of us will ever do.
Hey I don't want to get too far off topic as this is a Dio thread but have a couple of things to say. The band was called Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow originally, hence I think I'm justified in calling it blackmores brainchild. The writing is credited as Blackmore/Dio. Blackmore the music, Dio the lyrics I'm guessing. I also disagree about Blackmore's music being boring. Listen to his influence on Purple. Rainbow did a great version of Mistreated too. I also happened to like a lot of the Rainbow with Graham Bonnet so each to his own. I also grew out of liking the sort of music Dio went on to do.
He certainly had a huge influence on Black Sabbath. Heaven and Hell is a truly brilliant album.
