Romulan @ 57 days..

These are seed made a couple yrs ago by AFOAF with Federation's version, so F2s. I popped i 5 beans and got 2 fems..

This fem is at 57 days, the other is a couple wks or so behind it.. they're virtualy identical females... looks pretty stable but 2 fems is not enough to tell.. Both have purple radiating out from the bud, and the leaves stay remarkably green for a plant with purple buds.. almost any strain will purple up on the leaves at this time of yr for me..

I've had a couple PMs wanting to know how fed's romulan is, so i decided to take a few pics of her and give peeps an idea of what to expect..

At the same time i don't wanna represent this as Fed's current Rom, as the original seeds were purchased from Fed yrs ago, and I have no idea if they've done anything else with their Romulan line..

The line in general seems to be very indica dom, but with good vigor, quite a bit of node space and stretch, and a very predictable semetrical branching pattern..

I haven't seen many pics of the original Rom clone so i can't really make any comparison.. I checked the trics today and they're starting to amber, so I'll probly take her at around 60ish.. we'll see how she looks then..

Very nice shots of them Rom's BC. Can't wait to sample some soon. I'm gunna throw them into flower either this weekend, or next I think. Maybe I'll veg 'em out a little longer. I got a good sturdy male so I'll be dustin' the female for a buncha beans. Thanx for them shots!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to beancounter again.

first time in 20 +years i see a purple romulan

i had the original clones and get the federation seeds in the 90's .

none of my reeferman romulan turned purple either

so you got a fucking nice pheno or your seeds contain another genetic source...

i any case they are a-1 looking

BC,
I have a bunch of the present offering at about 3-1/2 feet...
I think there is 7 females...
Look really good with the Blue Moonshine and Blueberry..
The nodes are tight and identical on all plants..Some have quite a bit of stem purpling at this point...
I'm curious also about the odor you are getting from your mature lady???

Is it peppery?

Since your beans were inbred I would think they will be very similar to the present offering, whether the new seeds are inbred again or the same as before(your beans)..
Being an IBL they all should be very close...

They bred to a White Rhino and crossed back to the mother clone similar to what was done with Cindy...
Not always the best method but we shall soon see....

Take care and thanks for the post.......................................CC

Is it Piney/Footy/Grapeish? If so than that's tha Rom-dom pheno but where'd this purp come from? Ha! Olskool Rom was my very first 'elite' and it was so tasty and tha high's onsets were so unique...it was like riding a top-shelf cannabis roller coaster. At first it went straight to tha head, you'd be rambling on telling wonderous tales, then all of tha sudden it'd go straight down to tha toes up to yer neck and it's couchlock/munchyfest time after that. Ahh tha memories.

thanks.. i don't know about taste yet, and i don't like to comment to much on aroma till i get her down and alone.. it's hard smelling plants when u are running 20-30 strains at once in flower..

But I would call it pretty close to Cpt's description... citriusy-peppery, with perhaps some grapeyness.. we'll see when i trim her, that's when u get the best idea of aroma pre-dry..

anow how does this differ fromt he federation romulan??

I have no idea if it differs at all... I haven't seen any full grows of Fed's rom, not have i seen the clone(s).. So i don't really wanna comment on how close they are..

Thanks Brother Monk! I hope u enjoy the results of these beans..

Man I love your pic's .
Nice job...How does it compare to the clone, any idea?

thanks JDOG, I really have no idea how it compares.. I should have the clone to run next to her in a bit, but till then it's hard to tell..

good info mr. noodles, thanks.. good to hear what she looks or doesn't look like..

I may be wrong, but I thought there were/are 2 Romulan clones circulation, one is sativa and one is indica? And I swore i've also heard/read of a Purple Romulan cut.. But that's all conjecture.. living in the PNW i'm sure i've smoked Romulan many o' times, but not many people go by names in my area, so it's hard to reference back..

Hey Cpt, thanks for the input.. I wouldn't exactly call these Roms stretchy, but I'm skewed by all the phat indicas I'm growing lately.. they jus have more node spacing than most 'heavy indicas'.. maybe Bro Monk can chime in on what he thinks of the veg looks..

Yes, I believe Fed took the original clone, crossed it to White Rhino then proceeded to backcross the line 11 times (for current offering i think) back to the Romulan clone.. As u said, not supposed to be the best way to breed stability, but I've heard lots of good things about all of Fed's bXed work (ISS, Mikado, etc) so we'll soon she..

I'm not 100% sure on these beans, but I have no reason to believe otherwise.. the friends i got them off don't mislabel anything intentionally..

but yes Cpt, the smell is definately pepper-citrius, with slight grape undertones.. It sounds right so far.. Let me get u some veg pics to compare yours to..

Very nice Roms! How long did you veg for? Great pics!!

I vegged to sex (about 4-5 wks, these were fast to sex) in 2.5" or 3" pots, transplanted into that 1/2 gallon pot, topped, vegged another wk, and flowered.. so probly about 6 wks, but not 6wks of unimpeded growth.. She'd be much bigger if i didn't sex in tiny pots..

Thank teddy and bigmo

any good for back pain as ive heard the cut is?

not sure yet Nept.. I don't have bad back issues so it'll be hard to say.. but i'll give some samples of this to a friend with problems to get some feedback.. ALso, that friend is very familiar with 'real' Romulan, so it may help to clear up any confusion..

Hey, thanks CBF, i appreciate the comments.. bizzy bizzy indeed, jus trying to get thru all these clones and seeds as fast as I can and still do em justice..

pineyish, citriusy and peppery with a bit of grape.. hard to put my finger on exactly.. It's not very loud tho, so it fits with the real Romulan clone getting tones down a bit by the blandish White Rhino..

I should have a much better feel for her in a couple wks.. thanks for stopping by with those pics bro

Veg pics.. still in the 3", right after sexing:

So far that I can see....they are not very stretchy...at all. Showing sex..I have one hearty female, and one very stout male. The male showed at 17 days, and the female just past 21 dayz. Two others, have yet to show sex...but they are not stretchy at all either. At 4 weeks veg(from sprout)....they are just about 12-14 inches tall. Very Indica dominant.

The two strongest plants got to ride in the 2gal pots for final flower....the rest will just have to be sexed, and wait their turns.

I'll have a better idea how they stretch during flower, in a couple weeks. They just went under the bloom wattage.

The smell went from....ultra pine...in early veg...to near cat piss now in late veg/early flower...with an earthy undertone. :joint: Will know more in about 8 weeks :sasmokin:

It's hard not to have the same taste as BC!

I hope no one will be offended if I post a shot of a shorty F2 from RM's Romulan...

thanks guys, no worries about the pics bro..

After smoking some non cured, just dried samples I'd have to say she's just not tasty (for my tastes) enough for me to consider keeping..

It yeilds like a MOFO, i pulled at least 1.5-2oz outa that 1/2 gallon pot.. good vigor (if fed well) and good structure.. Frosty, dense and incredibly purple.. it actualy has just as much eye appeal as any of the elite purple I've seen, it just doesn't have that killer smell and taste.. The high is fairly strong, indica dominant, and could have plenty of med uses.. just not one for me personaly..

But, some may like it, and it has some UNreal commercial qualities for those who are looking for that..

But again, I am still not 100% sure whether this is like Romulans current version, or how close it is to it.. But i talked to someone who's grown Next Gen's romulan who said his experience was similar..

Oh yeah, uppon trimming this plant i noticed 2 small, singular bannanas, neither of them gave off any pollen.

I still have one plant in flower.. I will update if there's any changes in my opinion or radical differences between the 2 plants...

sounds decent, thats to bad about the smell and taste though, them are big things to be lacking in my book....everything else sounds great though....maybe something will come out in the cure? i'll have some of the current roms done in a few months, maybe there's some special phenos to find.....peace out
