Road Kill Skunk (Blueskiesvienna)

It’s to my understanding that bohdi got seeds from blueskies years ago. Will bohdi deny that?

You're quoting someone who was in the group with BSV and Bodhi. We understand much better than someone believing the rantings of an RKS cult leader.

The implication here is BSV sent Bodhi seeds (which is true) and that Bodhi is secretly using it in his work without giving credit? Hahahha. You're not the first person to word it exactly the same way in this thread.

I guess fish n terps blocked me LOL. Calls me out about some shit then blocks me so I can’t address his fruitless claims. Starting to sound just like another guy I know who claims he has skunk but blocks everyone who really knows his lies
yep. classic BSV move to block people meanwhile he's always the first one to start talking shit to and about anyone and everyone.

Slight tangent here... (back to possibly finding skunk thiols?)

A couple of years ago I met Red from the now defunct Legends Seeds (breeder of Legends Ultimate Indica).

Back in the day Red had worked with Breeder Steve/Spice Of Life Seeds, Chimera and (iirc) DJ Short.

Red generously gifted me the remainder of his seed stock. The collection I was given has a bunch of LUI, Blockhead, Fast Spear and a ton of Ortega #2 and Ortega #3.

A small quick viability test (no scuffing, sterilization or other fussing) got 2/10 Ortega#3 seeds to germinate.

The reason I bring this up is that I believe Ortega is an old Afghani and I’m wondering if anyone knows anything more about it... Specifically, if there may be any correlation between Ortega and the period that the Skunky thiol aroma was commonly found in western society’s stash boxes.... ?

Ortega was originally a afghan type selection that was grown out an selected by nevil....the seeds he found it from wer sent to nevil (as some other Afghan types wer) by a guy know as ortega...so nevil named one of these selections as Ortega in honor of the seed sender....the more modern seedline carying the name ortega coming from mr nice seeds seems to be a northern lights type inbred line wich is different to the actual Ortega nevil had..although the modern seedline may contain a percentage of nevils Ortega selection in it but it hasnt been declared to be so, an thers a chance it may not contain any otega in it...at this point that info is unknown.

Hi.
The Ortega- types (males and females, Nevil used both iirc) come from old Mazari i Sharif Afghan line, iirc, that Nevil called the "Maple Leaf". The Ortega-types were named after Jim Ortega.
Nevil gave some Maple Leaf-genetics to some US chap (Ed Rosenthal?) who then found the US Ortega genetics out of those seeds.
Did these come from San Francisco area from the US originally, iirc? Mazari Maple Leaf-genetics i mean, then to Nevil via Jim Ortega and back to USA from stock that Nevil gave away later. I'm not sure if i got that right but something like that
Some US Ortega plant was then used at least in LUI.

..Personally, just my opinion, Ortega-type is old Uzbeki genetics that found their way to Mazar i Sharif back in the day.. There's somewhat similar traits in some Taskenti plants i grew while ago, the more thinner leaved phenos; clearly somewhat related , mentholy hashy spicey terp profile and effect.

Here's my Ortega-pheno leaning Black Domina from Sensi Seeds :
..Lovely Afghani smoke. Top quality old school hash genetics.

I don't know what Ed is calling Maple leaf.
Ortega 15 was Maple leaf. This was crossed with AfgTx Sk and AfgS x sk males.
AfgT and AfgS were both sisters and pure maple leaf. Maybe Ed thought that AfgS meant Afg(Sam). It
doesn't. The hybrid Ed is talking about is 3/4 Maple Leaf.

The Maple Leaf came from a guy known to me as Jim Ortega. We traded seeds for a while. Not only did he supply me with Maple Leaf, but also Garlic Bud and Kush 4. The cannabis smoking world owes him a lot.

The Maple Leaf line provided me with a plant that I labeled Afghan T. This plant is the mother of Super/Ultra Skunk and also crossed well with HzC.

Kush 4, I crossed with NL2(which had the same Kush smell) and this Kush Hybrid is the foundation of todays Kush lines.

Garlic bud has also made it's presence felt and is part of todays super yielders.

Let me say one more thing about ML AfgT. This plant had exactly the same smell as Sams best SK1 but more so. It is the true Skunk archetype. I do not believe for one N.Y. minute that Afghani#1 is behind the SK1, which IMO gives credence to the Mendecino Joe story about SK1.

The world owes you a big Thank You Jim!
Let me be the first to say that I appreciate the work that you have done.

It may have been something that I made.
The Maple Leaf cultivar AfgT had a full sister, AfgS. She was a fruitier counterpart to AfgT.
AfgSxSK1 was narcotically strong. I remember a few occasions that as group of people smoking it would suddenly get hit with a wave of warmth and then look at me with suspicion. I was inspired to cross this with the NL2xKush4, because I could detect a hint of commonality in the phenotypes. I never did find out how that panned out.

Thank you both for the in-depth knowledge sharing: :respect:

When I told Red that I had some germination success he told me these are 40 year old seeds.
:jawdrop:

Anyways, I didn’t really intend to perpetuate this zany thread. :tiphat:

Good luck with those plants. It sure is a nice hashplant.
Here's some US Ortega, photos from the webs.

Now, enough about Ortega let the clown show continue.

Wow! Just checked back in....

Hard to find the words....

But....

I’ll try....

No....RKS....from BSV!

GREAT GREAT Ortega info BTW!

That Ortega Dominant BD looks killer!

We are lucky to still have a very old cut of Ortega held close here in Canada! Almost impossible to obtain the cuts or flower but if you’re lucky enough it’s absolutely killer!

Plus in Manitoba! Yup little MB! When Sub was hiding here up north! Subcool definitely had the infamous taco leaf aka “Ortega” breeding male here in the late 90s early 2000s!

However sadly she was also lost here! But not before some pollinations! What I’d give for those old seeds!!!

Texas Shoreline
And Trinity seem to be closest to what we are all looking for!

We are finally running Trinity and lost our Texas Shoreline (couldn’t get her to root sadly)

Sari Pul from (Dave Scott) have some unbelievably uncanny resemblances to old school RKS! Dark green foliage and almost neon green flower with bright red orange pistils! And she definitely has some stench! Skunky notes with lots of cleaner Especially turpentine notes!

And Uncle Johns Skunk (phylos) looks promising...as does most of his RKS work!

(Heime Cheeba old school Breeder) and (Todd McCormick) are currently finishing up a RKS run on IG! Heime definitely has some skunk stock!

Also Purple Skunk is holding some decent RKS building blocks in her genetics! (Unknown clone only roughly 25-30 years old! AKA Dead Head Blueberry

Lots of legitimate places to start looking....

Happy hunting!

On this side of the pond you have Med Man who also claims he has RKS?
However His lie starts here in BC!
Apparently HE has access to several RKS clone onlys!
His story is like every RKS fable!
They always have access through some old school internet-less hippy who just happened to chose the douchiest AND MOST unethical, hated fake breeders in the game to carry on their RKS clones and subsequent work!
It’s become hilarious!

And when they’re pushed on the lineage you quickly see the con men come out!

If these stains Put HALF the breeding work they put into lying about their RKS lines you might actually get somewhere’s!

Until then it’s just shit stains smelling their own shit stains and calling them RKS terps!

Yuuuuck

Cheers
