who has one and how do you like it?

im on well water ph is 7.5 and ppm 220 from the tap
ph keeps going up fast. over night. hardness is a 12 and i know its really high in iron. smells like sulfur and iron. water isnt red bud leaves rust stains in tub/sink.

i think i need to get a ro filter and im wondering if this is the one

-whats your water from the tap?
-do you like the filter?
-how often do you change the filter?
-cheapest place to buy them? amazon?

No reason to get a hydro logic, there are a bunch of smaller companies making acceptable units. We just finally hooked up our 75gpd, 5 stage unit with booster pump. It was 270 delivered to the door via amazon and it works great.

Well water that is at about 130ppm, comes out at 4ppm and takes about 90 minutes to fill 5 gallons. Our well pressure is only 30psi, so I went with a unit with the booster pump, as It works at 30psi, but it waste more water and you have to change the filters more.

I plan on changing the carbon and sediment filters every 3-4 months, and the RO membrane yearly.

The HydroLogic membrane and filters are garbage.... they only remove 90% TDS. Get a simple 3 stage system from Spectrapure and their best membrane, carbon, and sediment filter. They are very reasonably priced and took my 440 ppm well water to 0.

Huh. I've really liked my stealth RO 100. It was only $150 and I only have a truncheon meter, so I don't know if my water is at 0 but it does not register on my meter... I think the lowest the meter goes is 50 though. I used to get all these weird spots on my leaves (what I assume were micro nutrient problems) and the RO filter solved those, so it has worked great for me. And the pre filters are cheap to replace and available at any hydro shop.

Anyway... Pretty much any RO filter is better than no RO filter. But you may even be able to just get away with a good pre filter that removes all the rust (etc) for now. I think yo can get one for like $75. It depends what you have to spend.

Spend $40 and send a water sample to Peters laboratory for a water analysis...

You can email the results to Hydro Logic or Spectrapure and ask them what the best filters for your situation is...

But I love my Hydro Logics, running 3 tall boys in differnt systems, all ppm's are under 60...

The problem i ran into with my hydrologic stealth 100 was a leak from the pressure gauge (heard of others having the same problem) once i removed the gauge and swapped out the filters and membranes all was well. Hydrologics membrane is only rated for
90% TDS removal.

I've been using a Stealth system for years... no probs.
I used the same membrane for about 3 years before purchasing a new one, along w the 100 to 200 upgrade.
Broke the main filter housings a couple times so upgraded to the Tall Boy with the two R/O filters attached to a T off the output. Now I have on demand filtered as well as pure R/O testing at 0-2 ppm on my Milwaukee 802.

Oh yeah...
my tap, municipal water, fluctuates between 175 & 225 ppm @ 6.8-7.2 pH.

Easy to use, easy to service. Get yourself a booster pump to really make it a 200, otherwise it may be more of a 100-150gpd

Ditto, Spectrapure also has some of the best RO units around. They even have 2:1 and MaxCap 1:1 ratio waste water to RO water units (those are a bit pricey) so you don't waste much water. Also pretty big in the aquarium hobby world where hobbyists look for high-end equipment.

Hey, for very cheap water treatment options, go to Ohiopurewaterco.com.

They have everything you need from RO filters to complete water purification systems. They also have DI, carbo and water softener media so you can rebuild just about any system.
