RISKY or SAFE?

Rule 1 about growing; federally, marijuana is still an illegal substance. Safety is a very relative term when it comes down to it. However; Consider this; my computers power supply is a 1000w power supply, since I run high end components in it. Thats just a single computer pulling that amount of power. A single 1000w light in a 3 bedroom house will be negligible when looking from the outside in so to speak. 1000w of consumption is fairly easy to explain away, its when you get into the 3000-4000+w grows that power consumption starts seeming iffy. :)

even at 4000w.. its easily explained.. you know how much a fridge.. or washer and dryer.. or gaming computers.. or big tvs.. i mean u could have reptiles.. or a server ..

as long as you pay your bills the electric companies will keep taking your money!!!..

ur in texas? a 1k isnt much, but I make a habit of not committing crimes in states where I dont want to go to prison. Texas is pretty high on that list.
safety is a relative word... what one person is comfortable with, another could feel really stressed about.
i very much doubt a 1k grow would ever trigger any red flags with the power company, but a nosy neighbor, scorned gf, etc... those are all possibilites...

More risk more reward! Stay in the game 247, or the next meal might be a big cock meat sandwich. Extra mayo baby!

if you read about more modern court cases the trend isnt "power company turns in ik grow" its more like "when responding to a call about (fill in the drug /violence/alcohol related event) police uncovered marijuana being grown." keep yer nose clean and your site free of partying, drama and dramatic people. dont drink and drive especially while your holding and learn how to deescalate conflict even when you are in the right. normally situations where you might flip out on somebody, you might think about how to keep situations of conflict chill for security reasons. respect neighbors and defer to being nice even when you have swallow your pride. when you are a good neighbor people tend to look the other way when they notice something you didnt intend for them to notice, like say....stray wafts of stink or odd work parties at odd hours on a two month cycle. the good neighbor policy is surprisingly effective against neighbors looking for stuff to cause trouble about. late night noise and trash accumulation are big no nos. be the neighbor that people want to have.

Your computer isn't using anywhere near 1000w the vast majority of the time.

Also, this whole notion about explaining your power consumption is ridiculous (not just you, it's mentioned a lot). It doesn't matter what your explanation is, if someone is investigating your power consumption you aren't going to be asked why it's high.

OP, 1000w is small change. Starting to push 2500w flower + veg, fans, etc. is when the bills get a questionable amount more than your neighbors, but still isn't enough to raise any red flags - unless someone looks for it, but if that's happening you're probably fucked already. Doesn't take a whole lot to get a warrant.

I have three rules I never break...

Don't show.
Don't sell.
Don't tell.

Breaking these three simple rules is how 99% of growers get busted.

I do want to say this.. Smart Meters are giving us away... One out of my crew got popped because of them... "the man & even damn meter readers" are learning to see the 12/12 power consumption... Sounds like it would be best to have a couple rooms and have them flip flopped.. so no real noticeable change in power use.. You are probably ok on the grid without the smart meter.. But still... Always be careful.. tell NOBODY, SHOW NOBODY, AND PAY YOUR BILLS ON TIME.. and all should be good! Love & Light~ DJSF
