Rising Dispensary Robberies Cause Worry

I would like to point out that currently, ALL pharmacists are trained on what to do when they are robbed. Operative word: when. They are taught it is INEVITABLE that their pharmacy will be robbed, so they are taught to act accordingly. Meaning, they are taught to give the junkies, armed or not, whatever they are asking for.... Pharmacy robberies are rampant nation wide, and not slowing down. They sell drugs that kill more, and are abused by more every year.
When are people going to start worrying about the real wolf in their yard?

This is the worst-possible outcome and will only be controllable by putting a bank trap door system into each dispensary. This will allow patients access but will help put an end to the robberies. Unfortunately, this means video cameras and offsite feeds will be required to provide enough of a deterrent and these measures must be undertaken or people will continue to have the impression that medical marijuana is just "drug dealing" by another name and it will suffer the next time a law-and-order/anti-pot politician runs for office.

They will have to change or we will all be made to pay the penalty for their lack of diligence.

There is a gas station due west of Columbine High (yes -the shootings)on the corner across from King Soupers grocery that has a good setup for safety and also for trapping the thief until the cops arrive. It has a thick bullet proof plexiglass and steel cashiers booth and the doors can be locked electronically. One person that worked there had a robbery attempt so he locked the robber inside and just sat there watching him until the local police arrived to take him to jail.....so if anyone in that area needs ideas, the trip there might be worth it. Likely many of those setups in the area...

Are the mandatory cameras out of line? I have to wonder if the security measures are consistent with the requirements of wal-greens.

If that were my investment dollars at work I would copy all standards of operations used by the industry giants.

Having a guard might be a little much unless there has been an incident. If a store in fl gets robbed they will make you post a guard for a year. $$$ ouch!!! if you own it.

As a Denverite myself who works here in Five Points by Whittier and a legal medical user I can tell you that the reason these dispensaries are getting robbed is fairly simple. They still operate on black market prices, and some even charge 60-eighth, 450-475 OZ. THEN they add on sales tax This shit is ridiculous and has got to stop.
