RIP Mr. Joe Cocker

It's not a hoax. Unfortunately, Joe Cocker has died from lung cancer in Colorado. He was a one of a kind blues/rock singer. If you ever saw him perform, you would not forget it. He had unusual body movements while performing, a very physical performer with a great guttural voice.

This is an awesome version of "Get By With A Little Help From My Friends" recorded just last year in Cologne, Germany. Great back-up singers/band. Gave his patented, powerful scream at the end. He must have already had the cancer when he made this performance.

His vocals were unbelievably powerful. John Belushi did a funny impersonation of him, while they sang in duet. It's on You Tube....

Yup, we're running out of time. All of our heroes are dying off. And when you look at the garbage at the top of the charts in today's "music" scene, it's sickening. At least we were around to see the best of the best. No rockers in recent years even come close to the classic bands/singers of the 60s and 70s. It was a period of great creativity, whereas now we have the opposite.
Heard on the news tonight that Joe was heavily influenced by Ray Charles, one of my favorites.

Joe is not dead, he's just gone to rock&roll heaven.

What's the bet his music will still be enjoyed (like all the great bands & artists from the 60's & 70's Retro.) for a very, very long time? Great music is great music & Joe's up there with the best of them.

Rock on Joe.
