I never met her or even heard of her before right now...and I sit here typing this with tears in my eyes--
RIP Mary...and thank you for all the devotion--
i think i'm going to plant a tree in my backyard for Mary and all the rest of the brave people who stand up for us,my own little stoner grove, someplace to remember and heal, not hate those who oppose us,the war is being fought against us,lets respond with daisies in the gun barrel instead of harshness, our opponents are scared, lets show them kindness.
KILL EM, with compassion of course..... and Uncle, you are right on.....I already planted my little memorial for her and all the others, and each place I stop and visit with, educate, rally, encourage and plant another seed from Mary and all the others that will grow and spread the word also, extending a branch of hope for all!
Everyone who reads this should do an act of activism in her memory! Write a letter to your local politicians. Send "Granny Storm Crow's list" to a doctor, or some MMJ studies to someone who could use them. Take the time to reply to an online news article. Just do something good in honor of this lady who worked so hard for all of us.
right on storm crow, never met Mary, yet this thread always brings a tear to my eye,we need to honor everyone in jail for a simple plant, everyone who ever raised their voices to say this is wrong, everyone who had to hide what they do,everyone who ever grew a crop at risk to themselves, heck even the shady light baggin overcharging dealers,we are all warrior in the struggle.
Mary's story inspired a life long medical user and "hider" to come out of the grow closet. Written testimonial will be fourth coming from another pillar of the community.... just another case where cannabis only helps..
multiple aliments greatly reduced due to cannabis!
Storm Crow is dead on! and uncle your tears are shared by many.
Mary used to have to drink pedilite to keep her energy up during lobbying. Mary fought everyday till her death to fight for a law that she knew she would never see realized... Everyday! knowing full well she would not benefit directly..... Come one, come all, this is our time to celebrate a life by doing the right thing, everyday, day in and day out! The time is now!
she heard ya itisme......she is resting.....but still a little disturbed that medical cannabis is not legal in the united states....so until then, the cause continues.....
Hey Mary, we know you are watching and listening.... Jacki had a great one yesterday
"Everyone knows someone who would benefit if the law were changed, a mother a father, a sister, a brother, someone. We're all in this together, every single one of us, whether we thought this was our cause or not our cause, it's all of our's cause." -- Jacki Rickert 11/16/09
It's very nice to meet, Mary!
Seems as though even though she is no longer with us physically, her spirit lives on...
Today, I have been touched by the warmth entailed, in our love for canna. Mary's, yours, and also my own blooming love and devotion, not to my own medicinal needs as much as before, but more to the medicinal needs of us all. Canna is also the giver of spiritual sanctity and strength in our most troubling times, truly a work of art, similarly to many other naturally occurring herbs and spices in the world. Like an evolved medicine it has very much so opened my eyes, as has Mary's work fighting for our needs.
Jah bless all those who fight for the rights of the sick as vehemently as y'all do.
Thank you Canna, for bringing Mary into our lives. I for one am sure that her spirit that you have brought to our boards has made me feel the warmth one human can hold within them. Sounds like she was freedom fighter, and those I absolutely love!
Good luck in all Canna and may your heart rest, knowing Mary will not be forgotten!!!
Her work will live on, for our herbs are just begging for us to release their potential!
Thank you for this warm fuzzy feeling inside....
I get to go fight the battle for today (mites- lol ), with a great big smile on my face now!
Saw this on the Immy site this morning....maybe a good way to pay tribute to a veteran and cannabis activist...and why you are down there, lobby your legislator to vote YES to the JRMMA!
There will be a memorial tribute at the State Capitol on Jan. 20th for Mary Powers and other patients who ran out of time before the law could be changed to protect them. The memorial will be immediately followed by a Medical Cannabis Lobby Day for AB554/SB368 the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act. Those who cannot make it to the Capitol are asked to call in as well as recruit others to make legislators phones ring all day with calls of support for the JRMMA.
The program runs from 12-1pm in the second floor rotunda and will feature Jacki Rickert, Gary Storck and other advocates along with singer-songwriter Rick Harris doing a solo acoustic version of his song, "Legal Medicine Blues". Visit your State Assembly Representative and State Senator after the program.
Please come to the Capitol and help pass the Jacki Rickert MMJ act Wed. Jan 20th!
