right amount of watts for my grow tent..

hey icmag i am thinking of buying a new grow tent..

i like the look of the homebox Evolution

but i am unsure weather too pick the 100cm or the 120cm version

because i was reading that i need the right amount of watts per square foot

my 4 x 4 tent has 600watts in there so thats only 37watts per square foot

but if i bought a 3 x 3 tent with 600watts thats 66watts per square foot..

also can anyone help with size of fan i would need for each size of tent above.because i read once you add ducting and carbon filter it reduces the fans performance ?

i want to set up a new room and try and dial in my enviroment as best as i can before i add the plants. also would an air cooled shade be better.

66 watts per sq ft is great..ju st remember the more wattage per sq ft. The faster they grow n you gotta keep up.. about the fans , I understand your saying to many things hooked up to on ed fan??? Never used tent r 600 , before but ok would go with morec than enough size..fairly small space, aircool lamp, n get your charcoal going..You want more sir going out than coming in.mi get have to buy a . Reducer since uwould by a biggerfan than needed.....Just my two cents bro over grow

There's a few "Grow room calculators" online that will answer all your questions and even show how much elec you use etc etc.

move the 600 to a 3x3, get a gavita 600/750 setup ( or whatever it's called ) and buy a 4x4 tent.

now what I would do with venting.. hook them up together with a 8 inch, inline carbon scrubber or scrubbers in both tents, or the option of scrubber at end of ducting ( don't know placement ) and use a 8 inch Y pipe to connect the tents together, so one fan, can do one filter and your set..

there is many options though, and you could run the 600 in the 4x4 and get another 4x4 with the gavita mentioned ...

just too many options as there is LED's, dual scrubbers, dual fans, what lighting there is a million choices of HPS setups with air cooled or non


you got to give us more detailed info and what exactly you plan on running and doing s the possibilities are many..

but my words to you are things are coming in size variable such as gavitas w/ their dial or the controller making is versatile down the road to ramp up or down in watts... I would look at things like this, as your are not done yet with buying stuff... you've just begin!!! haha


I think your title is wrong in saying right amount of watts, it's more like right setup for what you want to do.. which we don't even know.. do you live in alaska or bahamas... these all have different cooling requirements, even season you grow in.. hobby or max yield, or just experimenting...... see each idea is designed to a specific setup.. if you say how many watts, I have to say back, what setup / style / goals trying to achieve / plan on changing later ... ..... ........ you fill in the blanks we tell you good equipment or not or if the equipment is going to fit what your after

hey habeeb i want too run 600watts - 1000watts in a space of 4 x 4

i am after max yield.running one of the light's above.

i am thinking of hydro.. ie..ebb and flow table or aquafarm

maybe a scrog..

i am running 600watts at the moment in soil & yield looks poor so far..

I run 1000 watts in a 4x4 tent no problem. I use a 6" can fan to exhuast through a 6" xxxl magnum hood and out the tent and room.

I run 2 x 600 watt digi's (1 x MH, 1 x HPS) in dual cooltubes in a 4 x 4 secret jardin, using a 6" centrifugal fan for exhaust and no supplemental A/C or heat, just a window to open and close. The real trick is using 3 x 6" duct fans pushing into the tent to keep the air exchanging and suction on the tent to a minimal. Before this I ran a single 600 HPS in a cool tube with a single 4ft 54 watt T5 grow bulb in a 3 x 3 secret jardin, before that it was a single 400 watt HPS with a 135 watt LED and single 4ft 54 watt T5 grow bulb in a 3 x 3... Before that I ran a 400 watt MH and A 600 watt HPS in a 5 x 5 and was plagued with hermi issues. Several of the better growers I know told me to use more light, so started trying combo's of fluoros, HPS and LEDs, but the fluoros and LEDs can't be vented in a cool tube, so decided to go with 2 x 600, much easier to cool, and temps are the same as with all the other light combinations but much higher lumens/per sqft.
