i saw an ad on youtube that ends with ‟i'm richard branson, and i'm here to service you‟. thought it was funny, he just needs to use his vast exposure of media outlets for an actual political push....and get paid even more money.
Undoubtably it is a positive having a figure such as Branson backing the movement away from prohibition! i do question his motives somewhat as i am sure he is aware of the possible market in the UK. He has the collateral and experience to set up a chain of coffee shops or dispensaries across the country and he will stand to make millions off of such a venture.
My question is, after such a radical movement in the US with 2 states legalising weed, when will the UK sort its act out and do what we always do, follow america!

i hope the day comes when we can medicate without fear, i have seen many people benefit from cannabis, whilst also seeing people suffer from archaic prohibition. Stop being afraid of loosing prohibitionist votes and DO THE RIGHT THING!

The guy makes a lot of sense their is a documentary in Canada about Vancouver police saying the same this this war of drugs does way more harm than good.
im sure once few more states fall, our beloved, backward-thinking uk will follow like the lap dog we have become.

TRUE...The federal prison system had a 6.8 billion dollar budget in 2011 an estimated 25% of prisoners are incarcerated for drug offenses so lets say of the 2,266,800 people in prison 570,000 are in for drug offenses (about 50% mj) that means the prison system "makes" 1.7 billion per year off drug offenders this money is tapped directly from the tax base. Thats a lot of money to take away from states who house federal prisons. And that is why our government has refused to legalize any drugs imo. Even if we have spent 13.3 billion fighting drugs (money which again is tapped from the tax base and distrubuted to state and federal law enforcement) the states make so much money off the backs of drug users it will be hard to pull them off the tit. It will take grass root policy changes like those in co and wa to show states how much more they will make by taxing the drugs to change our current system.

I agree that RB could put his money where his mouth is a bit more but he's a clever bloke who does nothing without planning. When he starts something - he usually finishes it, so I think there's definitely more to come from him. I think it's going in the right direction but the process will be another political war in and of itself!

A good friend of mine worked with him closely for 20 years, I know a lot about him that is not out in the open, he is a really good guy.
He personally paid for a number of Pop stars to quietly go into rehab when their Class A habits spiraled out of control and really looks after his friends.
Another mate who worked as a Despatch rider has twice had Richard hold the door open for him while entering an office building, normally retard security guards try to treat you like a POS, it says a lot when the MD, CEO guy behaves like that.

Seems to me it's right up there on the asshole hypocrisy scale that weed's schedule one and tobacco's unscheduled. It should be just the reverse. Goes to show you the role that money plays in lawmaking. Likewise how lawmakers ignore objective reality and pander to stupidity.
It baffles me that so many people unquestioningly accept all the bullshit. Seems that if Branson were to create a PAC and get the real info out there a bunch more people would support us. Or am I giving the sheeple too much credit?

We had a similar moment when Nick Clegg addressed the issue and then had it ruled out by David Cameron stating "policing is working in the uk". Yeah right it is, the gap between the rich and poor in our country is now akin to Nigeria. Realistically the Tories want to maintain the right wing prohibition vote and it is not in their interest to disrupt this by making a sensible decision.

yes, and a very profitable one at that. they recently privatized a prison near my home. in the depths of the press release were the "devil in the details". local/state govt had to guarantee that it would have "no less than 90% occupancy".
