Rewire ballast for 120v. Who knows how to do this?

Hello everyone.

I stumbled across a sweet deal on ebay. A brand-new hps light and a reflector and socket for dirt cheap, but with only minutes left to bid i had not done enough research. The problem here is this thing is wired for 430v and i have no idea how to wire it for 120v.

The ballast is a GE ballast, and judging from the reflector i received, this thing was slated for use as a streetlight.

So, does anyone have any idea how to rewire this sucker? It is a 400w ballast by the way.

Thanks
THENGINEER

The ballast has to be multi-tap which means it will accept different voltages. This is usually indicated by extra wires (120, 208,220 and 277).

Yours does not seem to have these extra wires but I would wait till one of the resident sparkies confirms this ballast wont work

Hey man  I think yamaha is correct, while I can't tell for sure from the pic you should be able to see like 3 unused/capped off wires coming out of the ballast, if not then i dont think you can do it.

If you look at this ballast you can see three wires w/ electrical tape on the ends, and tied together those are the multi taps

damnit.....so really this ballast is useless to me...completely useless. Atleast the hood and socket are still usable :)

Are the other pieces still usable?? like the igniter and capacitor...i know the two fuses are still good, ill transfer those over regardless (i assume its those two...only took basic circuits..wish i kept the damn book now for reference)?

Night everyone
