I'm really interested in this strain as well. Never ending flowering sounds more like what they were talking about....

The genetics are Zamal, La Réunion x Lakshmi, South India...

Remember this is la reunion zamal.. it is supposedly different from the other zamal landrace.

Maybe the immortality genes come from lakshmi.

Regardless I have ordered some mango zamal seeds and will post a grow report up. They will be grown outdoors in hawaii.

hey Now,

Those came out nice & bushy. Think you'll agree-you needed a few more weeks.
Sativa's are a tricky plant to grow. I think you could keep one flowering for 5-6 months.

So far the only strain commercially available is mandalas "mango zamal" but has anyone ever heard of different strains that have these qualities?

Zamal "mango-carrotte" has those qualities and more ...

Zamal = Reunion island, as far as i'm aware there's no other landrace Zamal to be found outside the island of Reunion... in fact, this is the name for weed down there and also i'm not aware of any other Zamal line apart the one offered by Gypsy to Gerrit, Mandala and everyone else... when i said autoflower i didn't meant a lowrider type of weed just the fact that Zamal tends to flower not so much depending on the photoperiod more likely when is rootbound or so... anyway these are just my two cents... i'm looking forward to be contradicted by someone experienced :)

I completly agree with VanVulpen he know's what is talking about.

Zamal use to throw new stigmas if the mother it's in a small pot and low light regime...so the best or only way to keep a Reunion Island sativa in good form, is with high power lights and infinite root space....as I can't the Zamal mangue-carotte is always throwing new stigmas.

;) as you said VV, Zamal is the name for weed down there at La Réunion, coming from the Malagasy language "Zamala". Now few guesses could be done but i know that on the two different but closed islands there are specimens with the same powerful trippy high and i am not talking about the Mangue-carotte or the Piment/pepper ones! There are other much more powerful ones known, it is not a secret lol and certainly protected by connoisseurs Reunion fellas, bless' them... Now what provided to Gypsy? Simply a mango-carrot common or the real strong stuff ? :D ;)
Personally I think that this powerful stuff than the rest originates from Madagascar and particulary from human encounters Africa/Indonesia past long before the European colonial empires.

ps : To complete the "infinite" blooms plants, i know it can exist in nature but not without the hand of men and women. I think it's like the vine but it must be pretty close to the equator and 12/12 of course. I know for example that in some parts of Indonesia there is a old sacred tree which is maintained by the local tribe but that is a secret lol ...

You might be onto something :chin: I recall mriko posting a link about cannabis pollen being found on Madagascar, in sediments dating back to 2000BC. Interesting because the austronesians, the presumed first inhabitans didn't arrive until 500–300 BC.
