No these came from a friend that reproduced them. Seeds were collected by a relative and brought back
I moved to Maui for part of 1977 in search of good weed, beautiful women, and wild mushrooms. I found all three.
The puna we smoked back then was awesome! We used to call it the Punabutter bud.
All of the bud over there then was very good.
I think the Maui Wowie was a strain that was also known as elephant ear.
Kona gold was wonderful tasting but not as strong as maui or puna. Kauai bud was tasty. If I remember correctly, it was a lighter green and had orange hairs. I flew home to cali with a fat sack of maui this month, right about now 40 years ago.
I used to hang out with a famous painter,who told me that he and his brother brought the first weed seeds the Hawaii from Korea after they fought in that war. I'm not certain that was true, but it certainly is noteworthy.

Thanks, Yes, a nice energetic Mexi buzz with an euphoric thud in the head. A good dirty sativa. Didn’t find the “electric treasure” though. Not as “clean” as I prefer. I’ve found a lot of modern mexi’s have a ceiling too.

Also had a few intersex individuals.
I preferred the Vintage AG from Bohdi, old school, soaring and super clean. But yielded 10 times less lol
Sorry to flood the thread but I'm so impressed with the beauty of the work DJ did and the extra flavor Chimera threw in. I will be harvesting soon. Right now she smells dark and rich but floral and minty all at the same time. I wouldn't say chocolate but definitely rich, minty with some lime and jasmine/juniper.

Thanks Buckeyebandit, does my description of the smell resemble your experience? Your crosses carried the Hm x BB over very well. My kerala cross is very kerala dominant. Was the HM x BB a male or female in your crosses?

Good post, heard the term punabutter a lot when I was younger n use it to refer to this line ... Gonna put a few more in dirt tonight... Was really hoping for a female to smoke on...
I hope you get a female too. It is phenomenal smoke. Be sure and reverse/ self it and make some more seeds. Or make standards if you get a male too.

Oldtimers Haze? I ran that several years ago with good results. That Haze had a wonderful flavor. It surprised me. It was one of the better Hazes I grew that year. I think I ran it indoors and outdoors too. 10/14 should do the trick. This I can tell you. If you are having troubles getting it to flower, It is likely a GEM. A premium specimen.

the two tall ones in the middle, merle (l) and earl (r),
are the only males to declare so far. the fourth
female declared today. the two plants on the right
are the only ones left to declare their sex.
btw, you can really see the douglas fir side of the
genetics in merle. bet he's loaded with pinene.
declared ladies will get up-potted as soon as they're
dry enough. was only going to go for pollen this
round for x-making*, but decided to keep the ladies too...
their musky creamy aromas at this point got to me.
none seem to have the melon fruitiness of the
GreenHaze xThai's i've grown.

EDIT: shortest of the remaining 2 on the right has
just declared female at 34days of 11/13, one day
short of 5wks.

Think those first one is 44 week pheno.. i just joke a bit but look at her,
just streches and streches and very low in bud departement while still
those pheno smells crazy pungent..
get a hints of burning rubber in smell..
