Hey Kopite, I'm not so sure I buy into that guy. I'm assuming that by "selection" he is refering to "natural selection" as in "competition". Haploid cells of all diploid species be they plant or animal are under intense competion from the off as it were. That doesn't prevent birth defects/mutations from appearing. Nor can I see how it would prevent Muller's Ratchet theory. The mere fact that X/Y genes (W/Z) ARE different lengths, proves that shorter Y sequences are NOT selected against at the haploid stage surely?

Why would you breed a polyhybrid if you were trying to preserve genetics? Obviously you're doing it to improve the offspring leaving the same old phenos behind. Goodbye "the past", evolution is here!

I don't know what you're talking about breeding a polyhybrid? Haze and Skunk are inbred lines and if you want to make a nice F1 skunkhaze I don't recommend using only one male and female to get the job done. It's important to maintain diversity for future selections/improvement.
