Revegging plant starting to wilt a little, (senescence?) Is it reversible?

Hi growers,

Over the years i have had a few plants that i was planning on revegging, that seemed healthy start to wither, idk if it's called senescence when it starts the dying process?

Anyway, it seems like once plants decide that they are going to wither and eventually just die, they can't be helped, am i wrong?

It starts with tips going limp and a bit of a pale look that spreads down branches until they're just dead.

I have read that it -could- be from lack of nitrogen but i don't know.

If they can be nursed back to health what would you recommend?

If there's a healthy bud branch left, cut it off and clone it in fresh compost. Very gentle indirect sunlight in the daytime and low led watts all night. No dark period but no demands.
If not, top dress the old dirt with fresh dirt and top water. Again low levels of light 24 hours a day.

I'm just going to try the reveg, i went a little overboard with how little popcorn i left on the stem.

I will be using weak light for 24 hours, but you think some weak nitrogen would be helpful?

Yes maybe, but if you didn't leave enough green on the plant, it may not be enough to keep it alive. You have to sacrifice a little to keep it another round.

Yes, i understand.

I have revegged a lot of plants in my life, but occaisionally some that seem like they're fine just take a turn for the worse and then never recover. :frown:

I think i have gotten a little overconfident at what will suffice for revegging lately.

I had a lightbulb moment and think i solved my problem for this particular case at least.

I had sprayed a few plants with soapy water to get rid of some spider mites and rinsed them all off a few days ago, this little girl was one of them.

So, i gave it another extra thorough wash and flushed the soil thoroughly, and i think IT WORKED. :)

The tips crisped up but all of the stems and most of the budlets seem to have gotten their mojo back.

I don't know if there was residual soap on the plant, i'm pretty sure there wasn't, but there may have been some in the soil.
Doesn't matter, she looks like she might pull through. :)

trimming the rootball quite hard and then repotting in a smaller pot with a little fresh compost (not too rich) helps with a reveg. Many of the flowering hormones are in the root tips so you get rid of them.. and it 'shocks' it into new growth. Also makes the plant take up less space

When plants are in the may make it, may not phase, I have at times
been able to turn things around by bagging the plant and exhaling
co2 into the bag couple times a day to help them along.

Thanks for the info VG, I didn’t know that about the roots. I’ve got an insane pheno of el chapo that I need to reveg so will try this out. She cannot die!
