Seeds were put in coco/seedling solution last Sunday. 3 yoplait shapes and 2 standard shapes.

Most sprouted on Weds. with two extra E's running in the background. While I waited, I brought in some Queen Mother Goji and Orange Ghost yesterday. B and D have popped but aren't moving as quick as the others. They are still below the lip of the yogurt container.

Looking good everyone!

Here is my yogurt cup challenge update. They seem to be taking off. I like how they stretched, then started stacking nodes. They look like miniature trees. I took this picture to show that the roots have not grown out of the bottoms. I did prune a few small ones. I bought some GH 3 part fertilizer. Up until now they have been getting Superthrive, Schultz 10-15-10, and SM-90. I noticed some salt buildup on the surface so I top watered them real well. The capillary mat is doing its thing. They went four days without attention. I'm sure that will get shorter as time goes on.

Still no roots visible on these Critical Kush clones, but they are looking ok so I'm still holding out. Here's a pic of one of the clones and a pic of the yogurt cups I'll be using.

I have to apologize but I have to retreat since I'll move during the approximated flowering time of my yogi (and I don't want to do that because its an unnecessary risk) :( Next time I'm in for sure :)

Ill keep watching you nonetheless ;)

Just transplanted a plant that was grown from seed in a Rapid Rooter sitting in coarse perlite into a Protein Drink called Boost. Says 8 oz, but volume is listed as 237 ML, so I hope it qualifies.

I was just checking out the thread and thought I might enter. Checked the refrigerator and didn't see any yogurt containers but did spot the Boost container and noticed it was under 250 ML. My wife drinks this stuff for a quick lunch. I downed it in one gulp, rinsed it out, and took it out to the garage. The seedling is pretty large, but since the volume for the roots is under 250 ML, that should limit the head start it has over starting it from a seed today. It would be cutting it pretty close to start soaking a seed tonight and be all done by May 25th.

I had to use a hacksaw on the neck in order to be able to get the rootball past the neck and into the bottle. I then taped up the neck at the top. I then took a drill and drilled three or four holes a half inch or so up from the bottom to try to make a mini-hempy bucket.

I put some coarse perlite in the bottom of the bottle, put the seedling into the bottle, and then added coco coir until the bottle was full. Then I watered it in using the little hose in my Blumat system that is used in the loop to remove air bubbles.

I have some small plants under LED lights in smart pots with Blumats that are coming along with flowering, so I have Maxibloom in the reservoir. Tomorrow I will probably mix up a little bottle of Maxibloom, SM90, and Rapid Start rooting promoter to try to get some good roots going in the bottle.

I usually check my other plants at lights on and lights out to make sure that I don't have a runaway with the Blumats, so my plan is to water the "yogurt cup" once a day while it is small and twice a day when once a day is not enough, even with the little hempy bucket reservoir. If that is not enough I can use a little saucer that is deeper than the drain holes in the bottle to provide bottom up watering.

The seed is one from a little cup that I kept on my desk as I trimmed my bud. I did a little pollen chucking and collected pollen from males inside and used a little brush to fertilize certain branches on plants and marked those branches and saved those seeds in containers that I marked, but the males put out a little pollen before I took them inside, so some miscellaneous females produced seeds from miscellaneous males. As I trimmed, the seeds I found I put into the little container. I am growing some plants from that little container the winter and this plant is from one of those seeds. Long story short to say I don't know what the seed is. Probably has some PCK and Purple Wookie in it.

Enough background, here are some pictures. The first one only wants to upload on its side. Unfortunately, that is the one that has the ruler showing that with container and plant, it is about 7.5 inches tall. You can see at the bottom of the bottle that the volume is 237 ML.

This shows the location of the drain hole to make it a hempy bucket.

Showing the bottle under the LED lights. It is running now at 12/12 and there are some larger plants about half way finished in the grow area. I have the bottle sitting up on a supporting 2x4 to make up for the fact that is is a lot shorter than the other plants.

That's my story and I am sticking to it.

Your plants look good to me. It seems hard enough to grow one plant in a yogurt cup and it looks like you have several in one cup. Is your plan to eventually kill all but the strongest female plant or are you planning to try to grow them all to maturity?

My yogurt cup plant is growing so well that I chose to plant one more seed in yogurt cup.
It is Auto Northern lights.

That angle must make it look that way, but I actually have four plants in four yogurt cups. I do plan to kill any males and intersex plants. They are being fed with a Burpee seedling mat. I have never done hydroponics before, so that's part of the challange for me. I bought some GH 3-part and fed them acording to the veg schedule. I have been reading up on the Lucas formula and will likely try that for bloom.

Sorry, must be my bad eyes. I think I have used the seedling mat that came in a kit with peat pucks one time. It didn't work that well for me. The one I had worked by keeping one end in a plastic trough of water and wicking the water to the surface of the mat.

After I planted my seedling last night in the "cup" and made my post, I read the tips thread. Aces and Eights won the cup a couple years ago and in the tip thread he showed that he used timers that would repeated water the small container with small amounts of fertilized water many times during the day. He grew a really big plant using that method. But even using that method he said that eventually he hit a wall when the roots in the container filled up all the space in the container until there was no room for the water to go.

I doubt my plant is going to get nearly as large as the one Aces and Eights managed to grow.

Looking at the picture again I totally see two yogurt cups. I was focusing on the roots, or lack thereof.

Yeah this mat is the same thing. I stole the idea from Dave Coulier, sort of...

I saw the Aces and Eights, but don't forget that plant was between two 1000 watt bulbs! I thought about doing that, but I planted in a soil mix. I've been even thinking about making a mini ebb and flow for themicro, but will probably stick to the Burpee mat.

I'll just be happy to finish one of these without it being male or intersex.

I'll be happy to finish haha. My seedlings just won't divide. I've never had this much stretch before. At this point I'll certainly work towards the deadline but I doubt I'll have anything worth a damn until June. Pictures later.
