Hey all,

Can anyone id Hawaiian seeds? Suggestions for germinating 25 yo seeds.

My best friend and I found an old backgammon set in his basement while cleaning. Inside was a baggy with a few hundred mixed seeds. After some thought and a bowl or two we dated it to around 25 years old. Just trash from cleaning weed.

Now we remember that at the time we were getting some Hawaiian. My buddy said that the black seeds were probably Hawaiian. Is this right? or are we old stoners pipe dreamin' again.

Any help and tips would be much appreciated.

The seeds are in pt right now. We'll see how long it takes them to pop.

It would be interesting to see if they will sprout. Were they in a cool location all this time, or a humid musty attic?

HEy TGT,
they were in a high and dry basement inside a felt lined backgammon case inside a baggy.
I soaked them friday and saturday and put them in paper towels on Sunday.
I just opened the towels and HOT SHIT 2 have cracked open!!
WOOHOO!!!!

Yeah crazy man. I can't believe it. 25 years ago I was a young corporate shill and now I'm a free crotchety thinker. GEE things do get better with age.

Reefer's held me together through it all. PICS soon. Along with a stealth started cabinet I finished this weekend.

Well like the title says:

After 25 YEARS life awakens.
The lowdown:
FRIDAY 4/20 found seeds. By dating the backgammon set they wee found in my best buddy and I determined the seeds were atleast 25 ears old. Back then we were addicted to backgammon. Clean our weed on the board, puff and play

SATURDAY 4/21. The old Girls(?) have been soaking in sterilized water.

SUNDAY 4/22. SEEDS went into paper towels.

TUESDAY 4/24. Lifted the top PTs and found this!


NATURE is unbelievable. AND What a gift to receive on 4/20.

Well as soon as they get moving a little more I'll pu into pellets in the starter cab.

thats cool, had some seeds over a year old i tried to germ and maybe 1/4th of them sprouted. thought it was old age but apparentley not

there was some great weed around 1980 -82. a friend had some hawaiian, big lonngg buds like 1 foot long, and i remember it had a rainbow of color in it. killer smoke

Hey REBEL. Yeah it seems a crap shoot. How they were stored, what condition they were in and so forth. We'll see if they have enough energy to keep going. If not I have a few hundred more.

HAZY thanks for stopping by. My memory's a little hazy but back then there was some interesting bud available. I do remember some purpleish streaks along with the greens and reds. But hey if it makes it to maturity I'll post many pics.

It's going to be a fun ride.

Hi all,
Sorry I didn't post in a couple of days.
Well sadly the oldies that you saw a few pictures back never went anywhere.
I guess they only had enough energy to crack the husk and that was it.

BUT.. undeterred by this I took about another 50 of these grandmas (hope, hope) and soaked them in Kelp concentrate for 24 hrs.

I put them in PTs and Lo and BEHOLD about 30 hrs later these popped.



NOTE the much stronger tails. Nine went into pellets this afternoon and it looks like that many will pop by morning.

Send out a chant/Prayer/shout/ incantation

I GAVE THESE SENIOR CITIZENS A FEW HOURS OF OBLIQUE SUNLIGHT TOADY.

LOOKS LIKE I'LL HAVE HALF A DOZEN MORE OR SO.

Re-cap: first round cracked their husks but died. Low batteries!

Second round spent a day or so in liquid seaweed (Kelp) and BANG!
Germed overnight and therethey are.

Others in batch still opening, we'll see how many more I get.
