I have a question about the Reservoir water pumps. Will all pumps drain back through the pump when it is turned off or does it depend on the model. I hope i am clear on this.

basically all generic end suction centrifugal pumps will drain back.

most PD pumps like diaphragm pumps will not.

if you dont want that to happen... just install a check valve.

keep in mind those shitty aquarium mag drive pumps they sell at hydrostores and in pet places have very low head... so you need a horizontal swing or regular flapper check valve, NOT a spring loaded shuttle type check valve.

Dude, this is physics. Started the waterflow, there must be something to let air in. Otherwise it wont stop. A check valve is a good choice as said above.

or just put a little hole with a small elbow at the apex of your hose line.

Have the elbow positioned to drain back into your Rez.

This will cause the line to "burp" and not siphon back.
