Reputation Points?

I just noticed something called reputation points, but I can't find anything about what they mean anywhere (FAQs, TOU). What are reputation points and how do they work? How does one bestow a reputation point? Can they be taken away? And what is a good number? I see I have 33 points. Is that good? Or bad? Is that out of some total, like 100? Do I get a prize if I reach a certain number (like being able to read PMs after 50 posts)?

Might I suggest you include the info in that thread in the FAQ, or even better as a sticky in the Welcome section. I've been around here for almost a year now and just found out about reputation points. I've missed a lot of opportunities to give well-deserved points to some very knowledgeable and helpful people.

I understand the block system, but how come some boxes are dark green and others bright green... Like Yours Mrs B?

first 5 boxes are dark & others are bright green...the dark green boxes take 100 points while the more bright green 200
