The utility company I used to buy power from had a nice comparison at the bottom of each bill. It had last years use in power/water and also had what you used this year (for the month). It was handy because you can see how much higher or lower you are.

Moral of the story? You want power, and they want money. It's not too hard to understand.

If you do it:

Out of town owner.

Get on as large a lot as possibe, preferrably where no nieghbors can see the house.

Huge plus if no nieghbors can see the entrance, i.e., see you coming and going.

Lockable gate at road huge plus.

Don't bother with furniture.

KEEP YOUR GROW LEGAL.

Don't damage the house.

Pay everything on time.

Let the nieghbors see you, but don't be friendly. If anything, tell them you work odd hours in a warehouse, and spend time at your girl friends house.

Keep the place maintained.

Renting can be done successfully even in a suburban environment, but it's not a long term model. Save as much as you can as quickly as you can and look for suitable property to own.

there's a lot of nosy neighbors mate, i'd be very, very careful. Also, make sure the landlord isn't the type that would drop by to check on things, as every landlord i've had has. If they come get something out of the shed or just to check up on the upkeep of the yard/outside of the house and smell your grow it's an easy way to get busted.
