rejuvenating females

What is the IC community think about taking a favorite plant and rejuvenating her as a mother plant? I was reading a book by Jorge Cervantes where he stated that was a bad pratice and only clones from a female plant should be considered.

I dont know if I would go as far as saying it was bad, certainly not ideal at all but if you have a unique oddity that your pretty sure wont be recreated what are your choices? After you reveg a few plants you'll find out they dont seem to be quite the same plant you started out with. I think thats due to the fact a plant from seed is only young once and there are specific growth patterns associated with that. Clones and a revegged plant never get to experience that.

I agree with Verite. I revegged a plant this fall and then took clones and the quality of the bud is there (though I haven't harvested and can't speak for the potency, yet... but I'm sure it's at least as good as the mother was) but the growth of the clones has just been "odd" and not exactly like the mother prior to revegging. And the yield looks to be about 80% of what the momma yielded.

I think revegging just puts enough stress on a plant and confuses it enough that the results are going to be a little wonky in one way or another. Not that I wouldn't do it in the future for some reason, but I wouldn't plan an entire grow around clones from a revegged mother.

I dont agree...dont belive what u read unless you tried it yourself.

There are alot of contributing factors that are in play when it comes to keep a revegged mom.

As a breeder I must harvest my best plants, then smoke them and find out which one to revegg.

if you wanna keep a clone mom and you want to have the best smoke possible then it is best that you smoke it before you pick it, you gather as much info as possible.

Replaceing clones for seed plants can get very messed up after a few generations...

Replant your mom often about 1 time a month fresh soil and not to strong nutes

Growdoc, I'll certainly defer to you. My experience was just with a single re-veg this year and other factors could have certainly been at play. Can I change my answer?

Perhaps I shouldn't be so hasty when giving advice. :)

no & yes ...the second harvest is actually better ..if you know what your doing

because most of the plant is already develope & all energy goes into the flower's

but after that ...the plant starts to de-grade ...peace

Hiya Funkster, I'm seriously interested in a second grow with the same plant, is there any special preparation needed to prepare for reveg? Please let us have some details, or any links.

I intended to reveg, take clones and flower early, but now think that I will reveg and grow the plants again in the same pots. Makes sense if the root system is already developed.

I have 3 Durban Poisons, 2 White Widows and 1 Cretan Sativa which I will also clone and try to grow outdoors. See the difference between an indoor and an outdoor grow.

I usually take my most flavorite plants, and re-vegg those ladies. I can't beleive all the plants I have wasted in the past not knowing about re-vegging when I first started.
