There is probably some alcohol in it from the wild yeasts, but most of the fermentation is done with lactic acid bacteria. It would be more like a pickle than a beer. 😁

The Red Poison autos surprised me with how much they have bulked up this week. They are at 9 weeks from germination today. The right plant looks pretty close to done, it's throwing out new pistils as it starts to senesce. I moved it out from under the lights a bit. I rotated the left plant to get more of the side shoots under the light. This one looks like it could use another week or two.

The plants in the Quarantine tent are doing fine at day 30. I clearly got some nice pollination, I am noticing seeds setting and quite a few brown pistils. The heat has been a bit high in the tent, so I lowered the setpoint on my fan to 40% RH. This should both increase airflow and lower heat.

I chopped down the right Red Poison last night at day 68. The top cola was pretty chunky, but I did have to cut out a small piece of mold. The left plant is now getting the light to itself for the next week or so. These plants were grown in one gallon pots of coco and perlite. They were fed Jack's 321 from seedling to harvest. The were under a 100W light on a 20/4 cycle. The veg room stays a pretty constant 80°F / 50% RH.

Sunday, I will be going on vacation for a week. Right now the only plants I have going are four small mother plants. I picked up a easy2GO AutoPot watering system. Last night I decided to set it up so I could monitor it for a few days before going out of town. Setup was pretty simple. I turned off the water supply to my Blumats, and used the included T to splice in the AutoPot. After that I put in the included ball valve and then connected it to the AquaValve. Last night it kept about 1.5 inches of water in the bottom of the tray.

I got back from vacation a little over a week ago. The easy2GO AutoPot watering system workd out okay, but definitely left the plants too wet and hungry. When I got back, there was a bacterial film on the top of the water and it smelled anaerobic. The plants were also quite hungry looking. It took about six days for them to dry out completely so I could feed them.

The clones failed a little better, but they were wilting from neglect this week. None of them have rooted after 10-14 days. I still have hopes they will. I just added fresh water to the tray.

So I did an experiment this weekend with the RxCE extract method. In the end I am very satisfied with the results, and would try it again.

For the wash step, I used some **old** rosin pucks and extracted them in two, one minute washes with about a cup of 95% ethanol each. I filtered this through a Büchner funnel twice.

Now, the distillation step is where things got a little weird for me. I added about 1/4" of distilled water in a pot then added the alcohol to it. It immediately went milky and I began to second guess my decision. This is the only picture I remembered to take. I was quite busy trying to follow the process as written.

I boiled away the alcohol until the remaining water was 100°C. I was left with just water and floating oil. An ice Bath got the oil to stick to the sides of the pot, and I filtered the sediments out with a paper towel. I rinsed the pot out a couple times with cold tap water.

For the rapid winterization step, I heated 3-4 ounces of ethanol on a coffee warmer and used it to clean my tools. I then added it to the pot and dissolved all the oil that was stuck to the sides. I transfered this all to a small measuring cup and put it in the freezer, along with the Büchner funnel, for a little over an hour.

After watching the latest episode of The Acolyte, I filtered the cold alcohol to remove the waxes that precipitated out of the solution.

Finally, for the decarboxylation step, I reduced the alcohol and decarboxylated the oil in the measuring cup with my fondue pot.

I got about 5 grams of RECE out of it. I lost a fair amount of it in the degumming step. I forgot to rinse the sediments and dissolve them back in. I also forgot to put some fresh alcohol in the freezer to rinse after the rapid winterization step. Next time it will be easier.

I filled a one gram vape cart. It's pretty close to tasteless, maybe a slight hint of oil. It's dark, I could probably have minimized that by using the Source Turbo, but I was trying to follow the steps as the author wrote them.

I will have to see if it changes viscosity or gets a burnt taste like the live rosin ones do in about a week.

Before I went on vacation, I took a dozen or so clones. I accidentally forgot about them for a week or so and they all wilted and died.

I decided to take some more clones but only had six rooters left. So, I decided I would try these tiny cups filled with coco. I also turned up the heat mat from 78*F to 80*F and increased my lighting from 5% to 20%.

Around the same time, I cut down the seeded plants in the QT tent. Interestingly, the Chem91 x Orange Sour Dub female plants had a lot of immature and aborted seeds. These plants probably wont be used in future breeding projects due to this trait, but there were still enough viable seeds to find a keeper "mother" in the future. The Solo's Stash and Dominion Diesel had a good number of fully formed seeds. I still need to clean and sort them before final storage.
