Reefer Memory Lane

I'd like to talk a lil walk down Reefer Memory Lane with ya'll and see what you were smoking back in the day. I started puffing in 66 (40 years this summer :woohoo: !) and the first herb I smoked was Michoacon (or so I was told). Of course there was commercial mex around too but it seemed to me that although weed was a lil rarer till about 68 or so (around me anyhoo, lol) there was less commercial mex and more good mex the first couple years. By the time I made it to high school in 69 commercial mex was everywhere (selling for $15 a oz) and good mex was harder to come by. That's around when Jamacan showed up in large quantities ($20 an oz).Around high school is when people around here stopped selling casual "lids" and started weighing oz's. Vietnamese and Thai weed were around in pretty small amounts in my circles and sometimes something tasty like Panama Red would show it's face. Shorly after Jamacan, Columbian herb made the scene ($25). Commercial lumbo was pretty good smoke I thought, much better than the commercial mexis or jamacan were. The better Mexis, Jamacans and lumbo's were very good imo. Quite a variety of hash was available for many years usually selling for $60-$80 an oz. Sometimes something like african weed would show up for a brief moment like a ship passing in the night.
I'd love to hear about all the varieties that people smoked and some of their favorites. Peace

Well, when I started (late 70's) you eighter bought commercial $12 /half oz or columbian $25/half oz. Then the early 80's sincemillian started to show up and prices doubled and thats when we started buying quarters.but the quality was so much better. Didn't really have a connection to all the varietys availabe to us at the time, just street weed, altho, people talked about them.

^ same for me as you cough
I started toking in '75 I believe. Back then though homegrown was the worst kind of weed, you couldn't even give it away.

Look how far we have come with that!

I started in or around 75 and my first "bought" weed was a $10 lid of Mexi mersh. I remember getting some good Mex back then but it was nothing compared to the Colombians. Then around 85 the Colombian was gone (along with the cheap prices) and Sinsemilla was the king at $100 an oz. Then later skunk came to town and the price doubled again and people started selling "1/8s".

I belive I started in 72,like someone else said, the $10 mex lid was 1st then Columbian for $25, norcal Sinsemilla for $100-200 then the skunk weed, lime green golf ball size budz that stank real bad $200 up. What I really enjoyed was the $10 Budda Thai sticks we got back in the mid 70s, you would get about 3 joints with a stick and the shit would knock you dick in the dirt :yoinks:

70s :joint:

Late 60's, Ann Arbor-- we got a good variety of hash. Best were the Nepalese temple fingers, Moroccan, Afgani Primo... :yummy: Yum!

Moved to Cali in '71, and fondly remember Thai sticks, Alcapulco Gold, Panama Red as nice improvements over the brick-weed that prevailed. :joint:

Oh yeah; Oaxacan and green spicy Michoacan also come to mind :yummy: :yummy:

yup, I remember the paraquat sprayed weed. there was a real weed shortage after that for a lil while. The good thing was there was alot of hash still around though. It amazes me that hash wasn't more popular, it was usually available for $60-$80 an oz.

Damn I remember that. Funny how some things can seemingly be erased from your memory banks and then..........it's back.
Wow, old times
