Red's back

I'd say about three years now. I'm more than happy with it. They say to put a pea size chunk in but it takes around a standard bowl pack and works just as well.

The HappyVappy is a real nice unit with some technology. The temperature control is digital and it makes a buzzy noise which is obviously a pulse width modulated signal.

The heating element is a piezio electric element which gets hot on one side and cold on the other. The bowl is surounded by Teflon and the stem is made from it as well. Teflon is an interesting material. It takes a lot to heat it up and it doesn't conduct very well so when the stem is hot it doesn't burn you cause it doesn't transfer any heat. The bowl acts the same way. Once it get's up to temp, it doesn't vary much.

It's pretty fun to use as well. Just pack a bowl and sit back watching TV and sip away at the pea sized chunk 'til it's cashed.

My only complaint is that the vapor isn't the same as whole cannabis as it passes mostly the THC and not so much of the less volitile cannabinoids. Personally I prefer the whole cannabis effect and would rather smoke a joint. This is my spring/fall pipe when my asthma bothers me.

Hey red do you dry it out at all before vaping a test bud, or can you just do it fresh? I picked up a Vapir One a few months ago - it does the job, just. Haven't had any fresh/wet buds to experiment with yet.

Thanks alot Red i really have to pick it up since u have asthma like me.I had the vaporite vaporizer it broke on me after only using it for 2 days so if anybody sees this don't buy it.

I found that I can pluck a popcorn bud off a flowring plant, trim off the fan leaves and pop it right into the vaporizor. Just have to be careful cause a bunch of steam comes out on the first couple of pulls.

I make edibles too. I dry and grind up shake with a coffee grinder and keep it in a small jar with my spices. I found that making an oil extract is very useful. Take a pyrex measuring cup and sit it in a pot of boiling water or use a double boiler and make a cooking oil or olive oil extraction. Takes about a 1/2 hour to get a good extraction. I make salad dressing out of the oil or use it to bake with. nyuk-nyuk

Hey MaxOr I'll have to pop by and check out the new adventure!

Buddle - that's awesome that I was able to help out your buds! We're all in this togther eh!

LUI Week 7 - the queen of the growbox is still going strong. It really bulked up this week and I think it's at it's peak and will be getting 300ppm nutes this week. I've never seen as frosty a plant as this one.

Shiskaberry Week 7 - bulked out quite a bit this week.

Thai-Lights week 5 - I definately have a sativa on my hands. It kept stretching and stretching last week and I had to drop my shelf 3 times cause the bud was up touching the glass. I think it grew an inch a day this week.

LUI - Week 5 - just a frostly little version of the older plant.

Hey guys I'm just back from a 4 day golf trip. I've been out in the sun and wind but no rain. Played 6 rounds in 4 days. The feeling is just starting to come back to my hands...

The girls fared really well. The LUI and Shiska in the large pots didn't need watering. They are slowing down a lot. The LUI and Thai Lights were dry but not dehydrated.

Here's a week 8 update...

LUI - This girl is very close to being done. I haven't checked the trichs yet. They look a little cloudy. It's gettting plain water from here on in. Showing some tip burn too.

Shiskaberry - still bulking up but getting plain water too.

LUI week 6 - frosty just like her big sister.

Thai Lights Week 6 - had to take out the shelf and is sitting in the bottom with about 5" of space left. Looks like about week 3 of flowering compared to the indicas.

thanks cheesey!

I2Kangrow has me lookin' at my trichs now. Both girls are mostly cloudy, no ambers yet so they are at peak THC right now. I use a little pocket microscope from RadioShak. I snip a bud leaf from the middle of the bud to check. Looking at the top is misleading because that's where the newest growth is so the trichs will be new and clear.

Here's a pic that I took just holding the camera looking through the microscope lens.

I ordered a 30x loupe a few days ago. That chart will come in handy, thanks! Can you use the trich colour to know when to start flushing?

Trich colour is useful in the last couple of weeks. Every plant is different. My LUI is finishing quick. I could tell in the start of week 7 that the trichs were clouding up by eye. This gave me a good comfort feeling that I could start reducing nutes. Now that they are cloudy I'm ready to start watering with plain water.

The chart is more useful for determining the harvest day so you can set the level of THC/Cannabinoids when you chop.

Also for first time growers, once the buds look big and the saliva starts to flow, it's hard to go a week or two longer.

The flip side of this is when you have a long flowering plant. Keep checking the trichs and they are still clear means the plant is still going for a few more weeks. I had a Shiskaberry go 90 days once.

Here's what I'm using to examine up-close and personal:

It was like, $10. from Radio Shack also.

It doesn't have a light on it, but the lenses are big enough to let enough light in, so that overhead lighting is enough (I think), and as an added bonus, it makes a pretty good picture when shooting thru it with a point & shoot camera.

I've been looking @ lower fanleaves and whatever I can see on the bud - without cutting it from the bud itself. I'll try cutting a budleaf tonight - see what I can see in "normal" light. I usually examine by pulling-out the rez from the HPS lighting, and hanging a soft-white CFL fixture from above.

I'm pretty sure that I won't see ambers, but it certainly can't hurt to try.

Hey Red, remember that bet I made about you finishing-off first?:drum::smile:

Yeah I think I'm gonna be done first too. I think I'm even or maybe a week ahead of you now.

My microscope works best clipping the tip of a bud leaf off and using a flat surface. The focal range is up and touching the base so damage the buds trying to look on the plant.
