I'm just running CFL's right now. I lost my mogul base and can't source another one locally unless I buy another yard light for $100. Looks like I'll have to get a medium base and a new bulb to go with it. I don't know what the deal is but it looks like HPS lighting isn't being sold to the general public round these parts. No fixtures or replacement bulbs or parts are at any of the hardware stores.

You'd almost think THEY are trying to stop people from growing marijuana.

RedGreenery, plants look healthy as always! You can consider me of fan. Sorry for being a little off topic here but I am a little confused about your ventilation system for your R2D2 grow. Do you have 3 exhausts and one intake, if so, where? I would like to copy that design to a T because it seems to incorporate a scrubber for a rubbermaid setup that looks like it actually works. Any numbers you can give me on types of fans you used and where they were placed? Also, I bought some PROMix BX from my local hydro shop, is this a good soil to use for growing?

Hi Platimus, welcome to the Lodge. Yup, this baby works. If you want to read all 80 pages of the DIY Rubbermaid thread, you'll find lot's of guys that have successfully built this design.

There are actually 6 holes. I'll list them by order going from top to bottom.

1. Upper Tub, Top Left, Light Section 5" x5" intake coverered by light trap (kleenex box)
2. Upper Tub, Top Right, Light Section 4" circular exhaust for 80 mm fan.

3 and 4. Upper Tub, Lower Right and Left, Two 4" circular exhausts venting grow section to scrubber.

5 and 6,, Lower Tub Bottom Left and Right, Two 5"x5" intakes covered by light traps.

Promix is great stuff. I like to add a bit of dolomite lime to it. There's no added fertilizer like some potting soils so it's safe to use as a seedling starter.

Hey guys,

here's my girls after flowering for 8 weeks. They have been running on 1 tbsp molasses/gal since mid week 7.

The LUI is nearly done. It's been pulling nutes out of the leaves for a good week now and shows fall colors on the top leaves. It hasn't taken up any water all week and the pot is still damp.

The Thai-Lights is still going strong after 8 weeks. I figure there's enough nutes built up in the pot so she's just getting molasses water from here on in.

Here's a shot of both girls together. You can really see the difference in colours between the Thai-Lights and the LUI on the right. I gave the LUI a haircut yesterday and took all the fans off

I kept sneaking a peek at my girls today when I was doing laundry and housecleaning. The LUI was saying "chop me" .... "chop me"....

I took a look at the trichs and they are nicely cloudy with about 1/3 amber.

So I chopped her down. I'm hanging her up in the garage to dry this time. I'm interested in what a more natural cure is like compared to a quick dry in the dry box. My only concern is that they might not dry as the mornings are below freezing now and the daytime highs are in the fifties.

Any guesses on final wieght?

I'm happy to get this stinky bugger chopped. It was smelling through my carbon filter and I even put my TruAir filter into the utility room to cut the stink down. This LUI looks bigger than my Shiskaberry in my 150HPS thread that came out at 2 1/4 zips. I'm hoping for 3+......

And I still have the Thai-Lights left to go. The plant looks like it's aging now but the calyxes are still at peak flowering. It could go another couple of weeks.

Here's my Thai-Lights girl after 9 weeks of 12/12

I'm not too happy right now. She's got a good case of nute buildup which is locking out the growth at the top. I had this on the last grow but not as severe. I'm following a 7 week nute schedule which uses much more Big Bud than I ran on the last grow. That's what's causing the buildup. I saw this on the last grow that the plant was taking up nutes by rising pH and showing overfeeding on the top leaves.

So I flushed her out with 8 litres of clean water and then fertilized with a 1000 ppm mixture of mostly A/B bloom and a dash of Big Bud. I think the BB is working for me, just it's too strong. Oh one of these days I gotta get a ppm meter.

Thanks Dr.Bud I never thought of the farm supply stores. I did a tour of the electrical supply shops and hardware stores with no luck. I gotta watch ordering online from non Canadian websites. We get dinged $25 to $35 per item as a brokerage fee by UPS or Fedex to take a package through the border.
