It's funny to read these threads.....

I grew AK around 2004
It's very good yielding and potent, but has a fairly boring flavor.
Good choice for a cash cropper or a beginner but not exactly head stash IMO. Certainly not B-sters though, its quality dank bud.

As for the strain changing, yes pretty much every strain from the 90's is different in some way. Most of the dutch companies don't release the lineage for their strains so its a bit of a mystery how exactly they have changed. Its unfortunate but that's the way it goes. Has he inbred the AK line? Has he outcrossed it? Has he used different parents from the original seed stock? Who knows? I will say that a lot of the early fame of AK47 can be attributed to magazines like high times printing pictures and stories about it and not necessarily from people getting a bag of it and thinking it was the greatest pot ever.

I agree. It was a unique plant for sure, but nothing other-wordly. I respect Simon though. With that said, I've never come across any Euro strain that even comes close to what's floating around in clone form here in CA. I really only buy seeds to mix up the stash a couple times a year. I wouldn't mind running AK again though if I could find a similar pheno of what I had before.

also just noticed that you have packs with 15 seeds in. or at least that's what you said in the serious forum, but then in your pic there was only 11 seeds in the vial. something fishy here.

The Serious Forum? I've never posted on the serious forum.

The picture isn't my pack. I showed you a picture on the net that looked exactly like my pack as a comparison to your pack. Which, 4 days later we still haven't seen your pack for some strange reason. After you said there were pics all over the net. We still haven't seen a pic after 4 days. I'm just curious to see what the new packaging looks like.

I don't doubt the new packaging exist. I just doubt how honest you've been about those pictures existing on the internet when they don't seem to be easily findable. Which, makes me question your honesty on everything else. The "your" and "you're" made me realize you weren't the smartest guy around from the beginning.

sorry im writing this while playing call of duty hence the odd grammatical error... plus id rather make the odd spelling mistake rather than living in complete ignorance lol

That's not the reason. You just don't know the difference between "your" and "you're." Which, leads me to believe that horticultural biology is a little bit out of your league. You should try using proper grammar when getting into a discussion over a complex subject like horticulture.

All I smoke are clones from CA. OG Kush and Girl Scout Cookies are the only thing I've smoked on for the past the 4 months.

I don't get the "clone only" fascination with those in CA. Especially, in respects to comparing them to other strains from seed. The clones are the best of the best in that particular genetic line. I don't see any of those "clone only" strains that have been successfully reproduced in seed form. Every time I've heard of OG Kush being grown from seed everybody says it's mediocre.

Why are you comparing "elite clones" of CA strains to packs of seeds from other strains? I'm sorry, but the comparison makes no sense. You're comparing a genetic freak of nature in the lineage of OG Kush to a pack of seeds from another strain.

Let's see how a pack of OG Kush seeds compares to a pack of AK-47. That's the only way to accurately compare the 2 strains. Otherwise, you need to grow out 1,000 seeds of AK-47, choose the best one, and then compare that to the "elite clones" of CA.

I had what I would call an "elite cut" of AK-47. Trust me, it put the OG Kush to shame. It put anything I've seen from CA to shame.

I grew out 11 ak from a pack around 07,08'. I found a great 70/30ish sativa leaning pheno that took about 77 days to finish. She had a ripping grape smell in flower. Which transferred in to pinkish colored bud with hint of purple mainly on the bottom side of the leaves and had a cherry spicy woody fruity kinda smell.she was large yielding semi dense type colas that would fall over from her weight. She was the only one like it in the pack. I had people say that's the best they've ever had. Even though she lacked somewhat in taste. I would give her a 8.5 overall. I lost her after about 2yrs.I did make some crosses with her but yet to pop them. peace

Huh, I recently had some AK that was a delicious smoke! Nice and fruity, surprised to hear the taste complaints.

"All I smoke are clones from CA. OG Kush and GS Cookies are the only thing I've smoked on for the past the 4 months. "

"OG Kush and GS Cookies":
OG Kush? Well bro, OG isn't a Kush, and I haven't heard anyone refer to it in that respect since I was probably a freshman in High School. (15 years?) There's probably 30 + OG varieties, roughły 30% of which are absolutely killer. GS Cookies, well, no comment. I find it to be overrated. Since we're discussing "OG Kush" might as well throw Northern Lights and Chronic into the ring

Nobody claimed the aforementioned Clone Onlys were truly replicated in seed form.

Why are you comparing "elite clones" of CA strains to packs of seeds from other strains? I'm sorry, but the comparison makes no sense. You're comparing a genetic freak of nature in the lineage of OG Kush to a pack of seeds from another strain.

Was simply stating that I buy seeds for the sole purpose of mixing up the flavors every now and then. Was most definitely not offering a comparison because frankly, there is no comparison( that I have yet to come upon at least)

Let's see how a pack of OG Kush seeds compares to a pack of AK-47. That's the only way to accurately compare the 2 strains. Otherwise, you need to grow out 1,000 seeds of AK-47, choose the best one, and then compare that to the "elite clones" of CA.

Possibly the most amusing paragraph in this string. Not sure where the OG KUSH ;) vs AK duel came from. I don't recall even mentioning OG , much less OG KUSH , much less how it compares to AK47.

I had what I would call an "elite cut" of AK-47. Trust me, it put the OG Kush to shame. It put anything I've seen from CA to shame.

Well, that's because you haven't shown a picture of it.

Yes, my cherry pheno had purple hues.

You said pictures were all over the net. You said that I could find pics by Googling it. Now, you're saying you have to take a picture? lulz.

Has anything you've said been honest?

What? Another guy came on here and told you his packs were Sativa dominant, as well. I'm not the only one claiming this.

welcome back hollow.. im pretty glad you responded back but your still getting very confused. I never said half the things you have just said I have. please quote me... lol I never said pictures of the packs were on google. I said you will find out information on the internet which you claim to be mythical. please quote me if you think ive said this. I have not lol your getting confused.

and once again it is not my job to spoon feed you information. everyone whos grown them knows the packaging has changed. you don't! go email serious seeds if you want conformation from the horses mouth!

I like ak47 don't get me wrong but clone only strains are kept around for a reason. but im guessing hollow, that you use a more scientific approach than me when smoking your strains.
why is there so much hype around GSC and some of the ogs going around? these peeps haven't discovered ak47 yet I guess. either that or someone is selling you bunk weed which isn't actually what they say it is.

To add a nugget off information in the conflicting history of the AK-47.
In a spanish forum (C***cafe) and oldtimer grower was asking the inevitable question about the change of the parentals and the kindness of the this strain of old. He was certain of the recent changes of the strains, and he share his history of when he gets is first seed named AK47 (circa 1989).
It wasn't from serious yet, instead he described a plastic bag with the initials CIA KGB (Cannabis in Amsterdam) and a full blooded indica, resistant, productive and fragant in a pleasing way.
He continued to buy the strain during the first years of Serious and so on... until 2003, when he was unable to buy the seeds.
In this year he was back looking for his beloved plant, and he realized that was passed as a AK47 this day got nothing to do with the plant he grows for years.
Supposedly, the AK was a reference to the origin of the seeds (Afghan Kush) and the 47, was the total flower time.
Was Adam from TH Seeds involved with the original parentals?. Did Simon used breeding stock from the time when he was still working in Sensi?.
A mystery...
Supposedly the old OK 47 (now Afghan Kush) from White Label could be related to that beloved indica.
I guest you are free to pounder this information.

maybe they changed the seeds and people moved on

You don't think it has anything to do with the fact that there 1,000 breeders and people are trying different strains out, as a result? It's just numbers. 10 breeders in 90s vs. 1,000 breeders today. And, you think it's a decrease in quality that caused people to try different strains?

Still no pics of those new packs, huh?

you say kush and gsc is no good compared to ak47

I never said that. I do believe AK-47 is better, though. OG and GSC are still very good. I think it would be badass to breed em.

, you say you have a fantastic cherry ak47 pheno, then you add that every one must be getting their ak47 seeds from a questionable source.

I had a great cherry pheno that I got from the Attitude in 2010. I jokingly questioned people's sources ( which you mistakenly took seriously.)

The cherry pheno wasn't even the best one.

then keeping all this in mind you add
lmao

Hmmm? Let's see.

1990-2000: 10 breeders?

2000-present day: 1,000 breeders?

It's simple mathematics. You think a decrease in AK-47 production is a sign of decrease in quality? lulz.

Since this tread started in 2010, what I would love to see are some photos and smoke evaluations of current AK47 beans from Serious Seeds. I'd love to see some flushed and flowered plants of their current AK seeds matured like they should be. Good ganja porn is fun to look at and smoke. Peace and respect.
