There are some clones around that have been tested as CBD plants .
They have a cherry terpene .
Pakistani plants can also have this smell .

CBD delays onset if mixed with THC - creeper . CBD will moderate the uptake of THC - long legs / has legs .

Familiar effects for people over 50 .
Opposite of the Oh fck I`m wasted , then 1 hour later I`m not , coffe shop weed in Amsterdam .

Red oil, as it was known, was one of the first cannabis preparations to be made, in the 1940s I believe. The first isolation of THC was done from this. There is a book called "Cannabis Alchemy", written in the 70s, that discusses how to make this and other early hash type preparations. When I lived in Humboldt, we used ether to make it, then boiling off the solvent. You can get the full text of this online. Basically, depending on the solvent you use and the strain and temp you boil it it at, it can come out red and of varying viscosities, but ours was as you describe much of the time. Also, I have seen a few strains with cherry flavors, not super common, but not uncommon. The ones I have seen were Afghanis mostly. However, we all know of Cherry Bomb, the famous Cherry AK Pheno and Cherry Malawi, as well as others. I suggest checking out cannabis Alchemy sometime to get insight on old school hash oil preparations.

I'm pretty sure that most HASH production cultivars and landraces are CBD containing varieties.


A landrace is a native plant variety that has been grown in a specific region for quite some time. They are typically distinguished by land barrier that keep their populations from naturally interbreeding.

I will in fact on your recommendation, try to source "Cannabis Alchemy"
and have a look see....


i used to live up in them there hills myself at times
ahaha....love that saying, not so much in a cave tho, more like a carport....lol


btw, I am currently learning how to make my own home brew oil...
ive made several small batches so far, AND I am currently growing cherry bomb, cultivated by mr greengenes, (I figured that was a good start for flavor I am seeking)


my seed was outta swammy-swamp lands (so I got the real deal)
outta 15 beans, 9 germinated....out of that only 5 sprouted
and outta the 5, -2 were male and had to be destroyed


so now im down to 3 plants, 2 are for sure females (white hairs visible)
and 1, hasn't dropped its pants yet, so not 100% sure of sex


all 3 have taken their time at first, so im running late with that
thereby im indoors ....the triplets are doing fine now tho,
and have really started to grow...


so im coming at it, from both angles.....
learning techniques to make my own quality iso oil, for smoke
while continuing to grow, my experiment weed, Cherry Bomb...


I am determined, to discovery the secrect of real
old school cherry oil...full of robust flavor (cherry)...and naturally red in color


ya, back in the 70s those were the days, getting some very exquisite
tasting cherry oil....even just smelling it spread out on a paper, you could smell the cherry in it...gosh-damn, that was the shit...


havnt seen or heard of it ever again in over 30 years, my friend


so, as a resultant, im in pursuit to make it myself.
I am no chemist, but I can grasp a concept, I can use autocad, I can read
and ive been known to be resourceful at times....

There are pictures of some of their apparatus . I saw a pressure cooker rigged as a still . And other gear .

That MJ potency book has some old recipes .

In the early 70’s we had what we called red Lebanese hash oil deep red and thick damn strong as well
Red hash = red oil I guess

I’ve seen several stills used in the oil process a good friend on another sight uses them to reclaim the alcohol used

i do recall the red hash oil of the 70's
not so much lucky to get it, but heard it mentioned
high times had come juicy articles on it back in those days

edit: the talk at the time was it was from a lebanonese source

I thought about that too, is it possible
the BOEL had a hand in it....and processed it in Lebanon
using their red leaf strain of cannabis (same strain they make their red hash out of)


and I heard possibly Afghani or Pakistani landrace(s)
was the material used...


and just recently learned of publications in the 70s
in high times articles....
(heard of it twice now, 2 different sources)


so the trail is getting warmer.....lol

though i do have those old hightimes stashed away, have to check 'em out

sure,sure....


I started this thread in hopes of reincarnating
the original, authentic old school cherry oil...
trying to determine anything about it, what and where the material (buds) come from, how it would have been processed
ect...ect....to develop a recipe to re-create it...


the stuff that modern day dispensaries sell as cherry oil
is not real cherry oil....they just call it that and that's about it


basically its all just BHO, a winterized type of honey oil,
that has a redish tinge to it....


does not taste like cherries, does not smell like cherrys when burnt....and isn't even the right color


I had the pleasure of actually having some late 70s
it was divine.....that's how I know about it....


ive been digging around for over 6 months now
still no recipe....lol


that being said,
I am determined to conquer the quest
lol

TGA seeds scarlet queen made in to iso hash might be similar it's supposed to produce red hash and cherry smells

The red hash, from what I understand, is not from a red leafed variety but rather from being processed after the plants are WELL matured. By well matured I mean, they were left in the field until they were dried then brought inside for hash extraction.
If you can imagine a plant dried in the field, I'm guessing you may be able to imagine the color of the glands coming off of those plants.
