Hello valleytoke, you will find a wealth of different approaches to growing. Finding the system that works best for you is the ticket.
One piece of advice I like to offer...keep a journal and enter as much info as you can. Example: I can no longer acquire the soil medium I have used for a decade. I had to go back in my journal to see how I use to mix up my own soil mix. I can barely remember what I did yesterday never mind 10 years ago.

Great idea about the journal, it has been about 2 and a half years since I have grown indoor and I can't remember the feed regimen, lucky I have a couple of threads on my grows that I can reference.
