Keep it as small and stealth as possible. Plan for odor leaks if your carbon filter fan dies, esp if neighbors are close by. Also watch out for odors escaping & spreading when opening a stealth box to work on the plants. Better to have a backup odor control device. And consider the possibility of extended power outages and resulting odor leaks, esp if in an apartment with neighbors around. It all gets riskier in an apartment when one is gone for extended periods e.g. work.

I'd say your chances of getting caught is 50%.
How can you say that? Just a guess, right? You guess his chance of getting caught is 50%

Can't see it
Can't smell it
Can't hear it

That is my moto

Don't have anything interesting in your apartment. Nothing that is cool, for maintenance to look at while your gone.

Run your light cycles at night, or hours which you know aren't the normal for entry of pest control, etc. This will allow you to run your fan on low (silent) during daytime hours.

Don't half ass it, please! What do you plan on growing in? A closet? No! Build a custom tv stand, or a box with a table cloth over it beside your bed.

Don't tell anyone. No one, ever!

Hidden in plain sight. Is better than a half ass cab in a closet. Especially if there is a chance there will be someone in there while you are gone. Nosy pest control guy opens your closest one day and sees a cabinet with wires and a slight glow.. Come on.

If you use your brain, and don't get confident you should be fine.

The paranoia of growing in an apartment can sometimes be a little overbearing. An unexpected knock at the door sucks even if it's just the mailman or a bible pusher.

As said already, gotta be careful with everything you do. Acting the part of a law-abiding citizen is very important imo.

Just don't open your mouth and tell folks you are a grower. And of course, as long as there is no smell escaping to the vents or into the living space, you're A-OK!

Mum's the word.

Go for it... unless you make it so obvious you are growing there, no one is going to bother you. Just remember Murphy's law though. It also helps to be handy yourself so you don't need to contact the landlord if something breaks.

I have grown in apartments and will continue to until I'm in a position to buy a house. I had a friend on the maintenance staff at a large apartment. What I found was they would go in everyones apartment without notice. Even with a privacy clause they still will. My boy would let me know when they were coming and stuff and he knew my room would always be locked which was no big deal. He had no idea i was growing and i would always give him a gram of some well dried dank. Had a couple rounds in and I get a call from him saying there was a shooting at our place (this was a large complex, gated entry, mainly students, very expensive). I was 3 hours away so I put it in high gear and shot off like a bat out of hell. Chopped all the plants three weeks early. The next day i found out that the victim had been shot because of weed. This 19 year old had 5 houses rented in his name and all of them were used for growing. Over the next few weeks things started to get sketchy and I'm glad I chopped it. The property manager started demanding to get in my room (not just mine, anyone who had a locked door in the entire complex). I told her to f off she said she was calling the cops and I laughed at her face. Came in 4 hours later and found her in my room. Luckily every thing had been moved to a storage unit. I heard she had fights with many of the residents. They stiffed me of my deposit even tho my place was extra clean because of a messed up door frame. The frame that was messed up when the property manager broke into my room.
This shows you the bullshit you have to put up with when growing in an apartment. You have to have balls of steel and know when to chop or you could get popped. It's always good to have friends on the inside too.
On a side note, apparently the property managers car was destroyed. Rims stolen, windows busted out with bricks, and a motlov cocktail torched the rest. Glad she got what she deserved although it was a nice brand new range rover.

I had a cabinet micro grow in a cabinet. Not in an apartment, but my house. Trying to keep it a secret from a person that lived in my house. In the cab with a scrubber all was good, but take out the plant to work on it and you stink up the house and the person figured it out. What do people do about the times when plants are pulled out of the cab?
